Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

With already more than 16,000 in the pot, Andres Infante faced off against one other opponent. The player checked over to Infante with the board showing {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Infante moved all in for a total of 8,400. The other player thought for a couple of minutes before finally deciding to call Infante's shove.

Infante looked a little embarrassed at first, turning up his {3-Hearts} only, then slowly showing his {A-Hearts} as well. His opponent shook his head and revealed {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for just a pair of kings. Infante's hand was good and that earned him a double up to right around 35,000 chips.

Marquine Loses Some

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Juan Marquine raised to 1,200 from the button, the small blind three-bet to 3,800, leaving himself exactly 10,000 behind, and Marquine called.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} and the small blind checked. Marquine bet 3,300 and the small blind check-raised all-in, tossing in his last two blue T-5,000 chips. After some consideration, Marquine called to put his opponent at risk.

Marquine: {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Small blind: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Marquine had connected with the flop, pairing his six, but was still way behind the small blind's pocket queens and needed help from the deck in order to stack his opponent. The {7-Diamonds} turn changed nothing and the {Q-Diamonds} river further improved the small blind to top set, so he took the pot to double through Marquine.

Check-Check, Check-Check is Good for Marcelo

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Catching the action on a board of {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} Hugo Marcelo is first to act. There is roughly 9,000 in the pot and he checks over to his opponent who checks behind.

Both players check again on the {10-Hearts} river and Marcelo shows {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for two pair with a king kicker. That's good for him to take down the pot and he is able to bolster his already large stack.

Marquine Keeps Rising

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Matias Scaffo opened with a raise to 1,100 from early position. He found calls from Juan Marquine from the button and Matias Ruzzi from the big blind.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Ruzzi checked to Scaffo who fired a bet of 1,100. Marquine and Ruzzi both called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and this time action checked to Marquine who bet 1,800. Only Ruzzi called.

On the {Q-Spades} river both players checked. Ruzzi asked Marquine if he had a pair and Marquine responded by turning up his {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} which was good enough to earn him the pot.

Marquine Felts a Foe

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Juan Marquine raised to 1,900 from the cutoff, the button three-bet to 6,000, Marquine shoved, and the button called to put himself at risk.

Marquine: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Button: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

Marquine was way ahead with the better Broadway pair and his opponent needed help from the deck in order to double up. The board ran out {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} which changed nothing and Marquine took the pot to send his opponent to the rail.

Brazilian Star Shines Bright

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Hugo Marcelo is a well-known player in the Brazilian poker community. In 2015 he took down a SCOOP title and more recently he earned Player of the Series accolades for the Brazilian Series of Poker, earning him a package for this event here in Uruguay. Today on Day 1a he's making his presence known early and has already amassed right around three times the starting stack.

In a recent hand that we saw, Marcelo was involved with another player on a board of {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{K-Spades} with nearly 10,000 already in the pot. Marcelo's opponent checked to him and he put out a bet of 6,000. Marcelo's opponent called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Marcelo's opponent opted to lead out with a small bet, making it 800. Marcelo thought for a bit, then decided to move his opponent all in. The player thought for a while, then eventually called. Marcelo made a face, then turned over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. His opponent stood up from the table and mucked his hand allowing Marcelo to take down the big pot.

Fernando Morhy Doubles Through Andres Korn

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

With about 6,500 chips already in the middle on a flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Fernando Morhy bet 3,700 from the small blind, Andres Korn called from middle position, and the player on the button called, as well.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and Morhy bet again, 7,200 this time. Korn called and the button folded.

The {Q-Diamonds} fell on the river and Morhy shoved for 10,875. Korn called in fairly short order and Morhy rolled over {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Korn mucked and Morhy took the pot to double up and take a substantial chunk of the WSOP bracelet winner's stack.
