A shout of anguish went up from Table 30, and it soon became clear it had come from Julian Bartholmes.

Bartholmes was all-in with 8♠8♦, and had flopped a set on A♠8♥7♣. His opponent, Nicolas Burtin had J♦10♦, and got there on the river via the 9♥ turn and 6♥ river for a one-card straight, it being unclear precisely when the chips hit the middle.

What was clear was that Bartholmes was absolutely devastated with the outcome, a look of pure heartbreak on his face.

Veldhoen checked, and his opponent fired out a bet of 175,000.

After some time in the tank, Veldhoen made the call, and his Q♥8♥ for a rivered pair of queens was good versus Geurinckx's 6♥5♥, both players previously chasing the flush draw.

On the K♦9♣3♣ flop, Schnpef check-called in the face of a bet of 45,000 from Burtin.

The same pattern followed on the J♦ turn, this time in respect of a bet of 145,000 from Burtin.

The 3♦ rolled off on the river, and Schnepf check-folded versus a jam from Burtin.

Around 300,000 was in the middle on a board of J♥6♣4♣2♠, and Gaetan Schnepf and Luca Delfino checked their option.

The Q♥ hit on the river, and Schnepft led out with a bet of 130,000. Delfino, with 480,000 behind, spent a great deal of time in the tank, but ultimately folded.

Schnepf windmilled A♣10♥ into the middle of the table as he was sent the pot.

On the A♦9♣7♥ flop, Quattrucci check-called in the face of a bet of 25,000 from Schnur.

The 10♥ turn and 10♦ river were checked through, and Schnur's Q♣9♦ for two pair tens and nines, was good versus Quattrucci's 7♦6♠ for the lower two pair.
