Robert McGarry opened to 800 from under gun, finding calls from Gary Bowker in the cutoff and Hussain Shaik in the small blind. Yingxin Chen tossed in a call from the big blind, and the 4♦10♦8♦ flop was checked around.
Shaik led out for 2,200 on the 7♥ turn, and Chen replied with a raise to 5,300. McGarry and Bowker quickly folded, while Shaik followed with a fold while flashing the 8♣ to see the pot shipped to Chen.
As the grind of the final day at the 2025 PokerStars Open Philadelphia series wore on, Edward Leonard insisted that winning was not his focus in the $1,100 Main Event.
All 146 returning players were looking to make a deep run at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, and it took more than 18 hours of play to reach the final three contenders. The trio paused the clock to look at a deal, one that left Leonard finally realizing what he had just accomplished.
After reaching an agreement with Guan Huang and Frank Funaro, it was time to let all of that exhaustion and emotion out.
“I feel pretty great,” the newly crowned champion told PokerNews after the deal was concluded. “It’s been a pretty sick start to the year for me, definitely didn’t expect this one but I mean, I ran pretty pure.”

Alida Veliu limped in the cutoff, and Jose Waybright followed with a call on the button. Jiandong Xu slid in a call from the small blind, with Adrian Muraru checked his big blind option.
Xu and Muraru checked the J♦7♠8♦ flop, and Veliu fired 400 into the middle. Waybright promptly raised to 1,500, and only Veliu called to see the A♣ turn.
Veliu checked and made the call after Waybright continued for 2,200. Another check from Veliu on the 6♠ river was met with a bet of 6,500 from Waybright.
After taking some time, Veliu let her hand go and Waybright picked up the pot.
Charles Bryant opened to 600 in the hijack, and Bruce Stone made the call on the button. Shaip Aqareva came along in the big blind, and checked the 7♥10♠5♣ flop.
Bryant also checked, and Stone tossed out a bet of 1,200. Only Aqareva called to the Q♠ turn, where both players checked. Aqareva then led out for 2,200 on the A♣ river.
That produced a fold from Stone, with Aqareva indicating that he made two pair while taking down the pot.
