Jacobson Picks Off Alberdi

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}, three players were still alive in the hand with around 60,000 in the middle. Both of the blinds checked and Martin Jacobson opted to check the button as well.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and Jorge Alberdi led out with a bet of 53,000 in the small blind. The big blind folded and Jacobson thought for a moment before flicking in the call. Alberdi tabled {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a missed straight draw and Jacobson showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trip fours.

Vuilleumier Gets Shorter; Kalev Gets Bigger

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a three-bet pot with 20,000 each invested to the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, Petar Kalev opted to check. Alexandre Vuilleumier bet 13,000 only to get check-raised almost immediately to 34,000 and Vuilleumier gave it some 15 seconds of consideration before letting go.

Kalev chipped up to join Emil Holmsten and Christoph Csik as a big stack on the table.

Gumz Gets Paid With Tens Full

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Fabian Gumz was out of position in a heads-up pot against Alberto Meran in the hijack on a board of {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} with around 85,000 already in the middle.

Gumz bet 66,000 to leave himself just two chips behind and Meran went deep into the tank as he contemplated a call. Someone called the clock after four minutes or so and Meran called.

Gumz tabled {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for tens full of deuces and Meran mucked in defeat.

Orlowski Doubles Through Beresford

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Platinum Pass winner John Orlowski raised from early position to 11,000 and was met with a three-bet from Conor Beresford to 26,000 in the cutoff.

The rest of the table folded before Orlowski slid out a four-bet to 86,000. Beresford took some time before five-betting enough to put Orlowski at risk. The call was made and both hands were revealed.

John Orlowski: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Conor Beresford: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Beresford was behind but picked up additional outs on the {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop. The {5-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} river left Orlowski in front to stay alive and double his stack.

Rosen Sets Up a Double

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Platinum Pass winner Mats Rosen was all-in and Kenny Hallaert called from the cutoff when the hands were turned up.

Mats Rosen: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Kenny Hallaert: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Hallaert caught a piece of the {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop but Rosen hit a set of sixes. Rosen then improved to a full house on the {a-Diamonds} turn and avoided Hallaert's outs on the {5-Hearts} river to score the double.

Zamani Eradicates "Fossilman"

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champ Greg Raymer was all in and at risk from the button against Martin Zamani in the cutoff.

Greg Raymer: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Martin Zamani: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Raymer was dominated and got no help from the runout of {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to mark the Main Event champ's elimination. Before he left, "Fossilman" wrote a personalized message on his signature fossil card protector and gifted it to Zamani.

"It's fragile, be careful," Raymer said as he was met with a fist-bump from Zamani.

Spitale Upsets De La Rosa

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Franco Spitale
Franco Spitale

A larger pot was brewing over on table seven as the bigger stacks Ricardo De La Rosa and Franco Spitale headed to the {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts} turn. De La Rosa check-called a bet of 54,000 and checked again the {3-Diamonds} on the river.

Spitale now bet another 100,000 and De La Rosa pondered about his next move for a short while, then tossed in a single chip for the call. The {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for top set were exposed by Spitale and De La Rosa mucked the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for an inferior set, then bumped fists with his table neighbor as they briefly talked in Spanish.
