The Birth of Tragedy: Nitsche Bluffs Into Full House

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Thomas Eychenne was in the big blind in a heads-up pot against Dominik Nitsche and got to the river on a board of {q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

The full action is unclear, but somehow all of Nitsche's chips ended up in the middle on the river as he moved all in with Eychenne covered. Eychenne quickly called with the effective stack of 1,815,000.

Eychenne showed {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a full house before Nitsche sheepishly turned over {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for an epic nine-high bluff. The German was left with crumbs as the Frenchman shot to the top of the counts.

Jaffe Caught Bluffing; Time Banks His Way to Next Pay Jump

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

In the previous level, Maxi Lehmanski opened to 80,000 from under the gun and was called by Jonathan Jaffe from the small blind.

The {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop checked through to the {10-Spades} turn, where Jaffe check-called for 135,000.

On the {7-Clubs} river, Jaffe checked once more and Lehmanski fired for 315,000. Jaffe then raised to 715,000, leaving 55,000 behind. Lehmanski went into the tank and used several time banks before making the call.

Jaffe had {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for ace-high but Lehmasnki had a pair of kings with his {k-}{q-}.

The following hand, when action was on Jaffe, 40 players remained. The current payout for 40th was $70,700 while 39th would receive $81,400.

He used up all of his time banks before folding and it worked out for the American as Norbert Szecsi was all-in for his tournament life on a different table. The board read {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and that's when the chips went into the middle. Szecsi, with {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} was drawing dead as he was up against Chris Moorman's {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and confirmed Szecsi's bust out.

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Felipe Boianovsky
Felipe Boianovsky

In a heads-up pot between the blinds, Felipe Boianovsky led out for 50,000 on the {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and Matthew Hunt raised to 140,000. Boianovsky called.

Boianovsky checked on the {8-Clubs} turn and Hunt checked back. Boianovsky then led out for a timid 75,000 on the {k-Hearts} river and Hunt announced a raise to 485,000. Boianovsky took some time before three-bet jamming for 1,010,000. Hunt rubbed his head and called.

Boianovsky tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a turned set and took down the pot as Hunt showed {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens.

Tran Runs into Trips

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Tony Tran
Tony Tran

Tony Tran raised to 100,000 on the button and Esteban Maquillon three-bet to 300,000 from the small blind. Tran moved all-in for 930,000 before Maquillon called and the hands were revealed.

Tony Tran: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Esteban Maquillon: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Both players connected on the {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop, with Maquillon hitting a set of eights. Tran could not improve on the {k-Diamonds} turn or {3-Diamonds} river, ending his tournament run with a nice payday.

Ausmus Gets Huge Double Through Marques

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Renato Minicuci opened to 110,000 from middle position before Jeremy Ausmus made it 260,000 from the hijack. Andre Marques then four-bet jammed from the big blind for 1,270,000. Minicuci folded but Ausmus, who started the hand with 1,105,000 called for his tournament life.

Jeremy Ausmus: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Andre Marques: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Ausmus took the lead and made two pair on the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop and held to scoop after the {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} runout.

The following hand, Fedor Holz opened to 100,000 from middle position and called when Marques put in his last 165,000.

Holz had {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} while Marques woke up with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. The tens held on the {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} runout to get a small rebate.

Pizzari Rivers Flush to Crack Destefano's Aces

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Philipe Pizzari
Philipe Pizzari

In the final hand before break, Philipe Pizzari opened to 110,000 from early position and Dyland Destefano three-bet to 290,000 from the next seat. Pizzari called.

Pizzari checked on the flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Destefano continued for 180,000. Pizzari check-raised to 500,000 and Destefano pushed out a stack of white 100,000 chips to put Pizzari all in. The Brazilian called off for 1,055,000 total.

Philipe Pizzari: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Dylan Destefano: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Destefano's aces were ahead as Pizzari was looking for a heart. The {4-Clubs} on the turn didn't change things, but the {6-Hearts} on the river brough a sigh out of Destefano as Pizzari made his flush to earn the big double.

Menzel Doubles Through Boianovsky

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Max Menzel
Max Menzel

Platinum Pass winner Max Menzel opened on the button to 180,000 and Felipe Boianovsky took some time before moving all-in from the small blind. The action was back on Menzel, who used a time bank card before making the call for his tournament life.

Max Menzel: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Felipe Boianovsky: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Menzel’s pocket pair was well in front, with the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} runout posing no danger to earn the double up while leaving Boianovsky short.

Matthew Hunt: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Holz Buries Marques with a Baby Pair

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Andre Marques
Andre Marques

Fedor Holz ripped all in for just over 1,000,000 in the hijack and Andre Marques was on the short stack in the big blind. Marques asked for a count despite clearly being covered and eventually called off his last 345,000 chips.

Andre Marques: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Fedor Holz: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Holz was still in the lead with the lone pair.

"Not a good flop for me," Marques boasted about the small flop that also gave Holz a straight draw.

The {a-Clubs} on the turn and the {a-Diamonds} on the river were also no help to Marques who was eliminated in 30th place.
