The players showed up in a big way for Event #3: $2,200 No Limit Hold’Em at the PokerStars Summer Series at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. There was no shortage of players and no shortage of action as the day progressed. After it was all said and done Andrew Porter (1,027,000) bagged a massive chip lead to take into Day 2.

Porter, who is a WSOP bracelet winner, has made an appearance at all three of the events at the Summer Series but it seems he has finally hit his stride on this last Day 1 of this event. He went into the final few levels with a healthy chip stack, but he prospered on the bubble by way of aggressive play and well-timed pressure being applied to his tablemates. He goes into Day 2 with only one player ahead of him in chips.

A total of 222 players took their shot at the $873,600 prize pool and Flight 1c was much like 1a in that there were tons of players with deep stacks and few players willing to push their equity and go for the homerun on the bubble. This led to the final 10 bust-outs taking close to three hours and quite a few hands. When the last chips fell the final 28 players found a bag and stamped their ticket to Day 2.

However, after the dust settled there were plenty of other players that bagged big on Day 1c and will look to take a shot at the massive $172,390 first place prize and coveted PokerStars Trophy. Azamat Isakov (880,000) held the chip lead for a large portion of the day and was only surpassed by Porter In the last few levels of play, experienced veteran Greg Himmelbrand (774,000) was seen putting the pressure on in multiple spots and looking to be in the mix, and George Abi-Zeid (754,000) was quiet for much of the day but got into a massive hand that burst the bubble and shot him up the leaderboard when it mattered most.

Among them will be not one, but two WSOP Main Event Champions, Joe McKeehen (2015) and Jamie Gold (2006), multiple bracelet winners, and a couple WPT Champions. They all return on Sunday Morning at 11:15 a.m. to battle it out for the top spot.

Abi-Zeid Burst the Bubble

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

There was a limp under the gun before a middle position open to 31,000. It folded to George Abi-Zeid in late position who flat called and then action was back on the under the gun player. He only thought for a moment before moving all in for 250,000.

The original raiser snap folded and action was back on Abi-Zeid. He went into the tank for over three minutes as the other tables watched on. Eventually he put in the chips and the cards hit their backs.

Under the Gun: 55
George Abi-Zeid: AQ

The full board ran out KA86Q and just like that the bubble has burst and players are putting chips in bags.

Potis Gets Crucial River

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The action folded to Anthony Potis on the button who moved all in for about 85000. It made it to the big blind who got a count and then called.

Anthony Potis: QJ
Big blind: 44

The 588 flop hit the felt and Potis was live but needed help. The A landed on the turn and he began to get up and gather his things. Right on time the dealer burned and turned the A and with just queen-high Potis would get a pure double at a crucial moment as the bubble approaches.

The cards hit their backs.

John Kostelac: AK
Azamat Isakov: AQ

The full board ran out 10K55Q and Kostelac would earn the pure double at a pivotal time as the bubble approaches.
