Welcome to Day 1 of the 2020 WCOOP-16-H: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, High Roller]

2020 WCOOP
2020 WCOOP

The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker 2020 (WCOOP) continues with the second five-digit buy-in of the festival as WCOOP-16-H: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, High Roller] will get underway at 1.05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). A guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000 is featured in this tournament and some of the biggest names of the world of online and live poker are expected to join the action.

From each $10,300 buy-in, $5,000 will go towards the bounty prize pool whereas $5,000 are awarded in the cash prize pool. For each player they knock out, participants will receive at least $2,500 and especially in the later stages of this progressive knockout tournament this amount will be far bigger.

All players start with 250,000 in chips and the levels throughout the entire event last 20 minutes each. During the late registration period which lasts four hours and 40 minutes, up to three re-entries can be purchased. As of one hour prior to the start, five MTT schedules were scheduled with a total of 16 seats guaranteed, which will provide an influx of new entries a few hours into the action.

Some of the early champions of this WCOOP festival include Ben "Spraggy" Spragg, Ludovic Geilich, Chris Oliver, Yuri Dzivielevski, Ludovic Geilich and Dimitar Danchev. Stay tuned to find out if any of them will take another shot at glory.

Day 1 will play down to the money bubble and as soon as that one bursts, all remaining survivors will then bag up their virtual chips for the night and return the following day at 1.05 p.m. EST in order to play down to a champion.

The PokerNews live reporting team will provide all the action from start to finish, and the final day will also be broadcasted with commentary and cards-up coverage on a delay of at least 20 minutes on the PokerStars Twitch channel.

Alt vs Passiveaggro

Canada's "roo_400" raised to 6,160 and was called by "Passiveaggro" and Dinesh "NastyMinder" Alt in the big blind. Alt check-raised a flop of {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades} from 6,700 to 21,000 as "Passiveaggro" came along to the {6-Hearts} turn on which Alt bet 26,600 and was called.

After the {2-Diamonds} river, Alt bet 71,600 and "Passiveaggro" called with the {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for top set, catching Alt bluffing with the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

From under the gun, Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski raised to 7,200 and Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford three-bet to 21,864 on the button. Back to the Brazilian who jammed for 120,818 and Beresford quickly called.

Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Beresford had the slightly superior stack and flipped to immediately spike a set on {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Dzivielevski needed a queen but found none on the {2-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river.

Double Knockout for Botteon

Javier "que_te_crio" Fernandez moved all in for just 34,471 and Georgios "Geokarak" Karakousis reshoved for 138,442 from one seat over. Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon isolated by shoving for 276,724 in the hijack and Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick then ripped it in from the small blind with the biggest stack.

Javier "que_te_crio" Fernandez: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Georgios "Geokarak" Karakousis: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} flop provided the case ace and Botteon with the worst kicker picked up a flushdraw. The {3-Clubs} turn changed nothing but the {4-Spades} river improved the Brazilian to a flush to secure the double knockout and leave Chidwick short.

Pedersen No More; "roo_400" Doubles Through Eibinger

Level 9 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
roo_400 vs Eibinger
roo_400 vs Eibinger

Team Pokercode has suffered two setbacks when Thomas "MarToMchat" Boivin knocked out Simon "Igorkarkarof" Pedersen and Matthias "iambest2" Eibinger then doubled "roo_400" in a big pot.

Pedersen failed to hold up with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} in the big blind as Boivin on the button with the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} got there on a {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs} board.

"roo_400" flat-called a raise to 17,600 while on the button and Eibinger squeezed to 100,000 in the big blind. Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson called and so did "roo_400". The trio checked the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop and Eibinger check-shoved the {7-Hearts} turn for 758,583 when "roo_400" had bet 104,000.

Margereson folded and "roo_400" called.

"roo_400": {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Matthias "iambest2" Eibinger: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The {7-Diamonds} river brought no upset as "roo_400" further improved to a full house.

Botteon vs Boivin

Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon raised to 20,000 and Thomas "MarToMchat" Boivin three-bet to 95,000 in the big blind. Botteon made it 195,000 to go and called the shove of Boivin.

Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Thomas "MarToMchat" Boivin: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Premium pairs clashed and both flopped a set on {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, the {7-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river bricked to let Botteon double.

Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson then raised to 22,000 on the button and "roo_400" three-bet to 95,000 in the small blind. Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit four-bet to 239,852 and was called only by "roo_400". On a {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, "roo_400" then check-shoved and Kanit called all-in for 793,584 to create the biggest pot of the tournament so far.

Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
"roo_400": {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Neither the {9-Hearts} turn nor the {7-Clubs} river brought an upset and Kanit doubled into the lead.
