Day 1 Completed
"wesoly78" Leads Final 20 Players into Day 2 of the PokerStars WCOOP-39-H: $5,200 NLHE [Progressive KO, High Roller]

Day 1 of the PokerStars WCOOP-39-H: $5,200 NLHE [Progressive KO, High Roller] attracted 124 unique players who needed to reenter 49 times to get to a total of 173 entries for the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Twenty players would get paid in this tournament and that is also the number of players who have made it through to Day 2 which will take place on Saturday, September 12 at 7:05 CEST.
Claiming the Day 1 chip lead is "wesoly78" with 5,036,933 after first doubling up through Ognyan "cocojamb0" Dimov in the latter stages of the tournament before taking out Andrey "Anjeyyy" Novak to get to the bubble. "wesoly78" is followed in the counts by "bayaraa1002" with 4,828,054 who had been near the top of the count throughout the second half of the day but took a chunk out of the stack of "girafganger7" to end up in second place.

Closing out the podium is Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph with 4,382,833 who was also responsible for bursting the bubble just before the end of the day when he took out Espen "Hymn2Ninkasi" Jorstad. Jorstad raised and then called the three-bet shove of Rudolph with jacks while the latter held ace-trey. Rudolph flopped two pair and then improved to a full house to burst the bubble.
"Serebity_p", Sergei "Futti18" Koliakov, "Pwndidi", Gleb "Ti0373" Tremzin, "girafganger7", "Garrin4e" all bagged an above average stack too. But with players like Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, Pieter "XMorphineX" Aerts, and Viktor "papan9_p$" Ustimov with more than twenty big blinds for Day 2, anything could still happen.

With three reentries available for all the players, the all-ins were flying in from the start. Teun "tinnoemulder" Mulder was the first of many to bust today when his bluff was caught by "ArtHouse2011". PokerStars representatives Fintan "EasyWithAces" Hand and Ben "Spraggy" Spragg also fired a bullet today but unsuccessfully so. Hand fell when he four-bet shoved with ace-queen and was looked up by Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski who held jacks. "Spraggy" had flopped top pair when his chips went in against "roo_400" who held the open-ended straight draw and got there on the turn.
Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro busted to Artur "mararthur1" Martirosian just when the registration closed to leave 60 players in the field to battle it out for their share of the prize money. Andras "probirs" Nemeth had just won his second WCOOP title in WCOOP-37-H: $5,200 PLO [6-Max, High Roller] for $140,506 but fell to Rudolph in this tournament.

Semi-retired Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz jumped in just before the registration closed but couldn't run up his stack either. Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker, Joao "Naza114" Vieira, and "Aleks Better" all used their maximum amount of bullets but only the latter managed to make it work in the end.
When the players return on Saturday, they will continue with Level 22 which has a small blind of 30,000, a big blind of 60,000, and a running ante of 7,500 as only a minute or so has been used of it today. According to the tournament lobby, the level duration won't increase until the final table has been reached so the levels should last 20 minutes each until that point.
The PokerStars Twitch Stream will be live too on Saturday with commentary provided by James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton with hole cards on a 30-minute delay and PokerNews will be back to bring you all the coverage right here on a similar delay. As all the players enjoy a day off on Friday, make sure to return on September 12 to read about the conclusion of this event.
