Watson Trying to Reverse Tough Start

Level 20 : 12,500/25,000, 0 ante

"ZhipOHoy" potted from the small blind and Mike "SirWatts" Watson called. Action was the same with 75K and a call from ZhipOHoy on the {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop, bringing a {7-Diamonds} turn. Watson called all in for 272K.

Watson: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}
ZhipOHoy: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Watson had gotten the perfect turn card, and the {j-Hearts} kept his two pair best.

Shakerchi Falls

Level 20 : 12,500/25,000, 0 ante

Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi opened under the gun to 56,500 and "Us_Alex" three-bet to 182,500 in the big blind. Shakerchi peeled and called a small bet of 75,000 on the {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Us_Alex shoved the {a-Diamonds} turn for 227,886 and Shakerchi called but was in bad shape.

Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Us_Alex: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

Us_Alex was in command with a full house and the {2-Spades} didn't save Shakerchi. He was left with a couple of blinds and busted in short order.

"Sira Al Aziz" Can't Hold With Aces

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

"Debilne_Ucho" raised to 48K in the cutoff, "terror777727" called and then "Sira Al Aziz" potted in the small blind. Debilne_Ucho repotted to chase out terror777727 and called when Sira Al Aziz jammed for 367K.

Sira Al Aziz: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Debilne_Ucho: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

The {9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop was fine for Sira Al Aziz but the {q-Clubs} turn sure wasn't. An {8-Clubs} river filled up Debilne_Ucho and sent Sira Al Aziz packing.

Sintoras Recovering

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

"Us_Alex" made it 60,000 in the cutoff and "Sintoras" made it 200,000 in the small blind. Us_Alex called and then called once more when Sintoras shoved the last 283K in on the {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop.

Sintoras: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Us_Alex: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Sintoras was in a commanding lead with the sneaky set, and the {7-Clubs} turn and {2-Spades} river didn't trouble them.

Sintoras is trying to get back where they started the day, above 1.2 million.

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

"3DTemujiN" opened for 50,200 under the gun and Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas defended the big blind. He led for 73,600 on the {j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop and 3DTemujiN called. Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

WCOOP 2020 Winner Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane Offers Advice on Dealing with Downswings after “turbulent but fun” 10 Years

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Gavin Cochrane

Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane has been playing for over a decade, usually tearing up cash games and occasionally crossing over into the tournament arena to put a few notches on his record. Last week, he won event 26-H for $63,236k, claiming the first WCOOP win of his illustrious poker career.

Speaking of his win, Cochrane says, “It feels like it’s about time! I’ve played enough WCOOPs. I’m happy to win in 5 card PLO, as I really enjoy playing that game.”

He describes his 10+ year long poker journey as “pretty turbulent, but lots of fun.”

Cochrane was once involved in some of the most insane cash games of all time, including regular $100/$200 sessions against players such as Viktor “Isildur1” Blom. In one particularly memorable session, Cochrane came off $600k in profit against Blom. Another time, Cochrane won $150k in a single hand against Scott Palmer.

“I had quite a lot of gamble in my twenties – loved the high stakes and big swings. But I feel that urge less these days,” says Cochrane. “I still have a lot of love for the game, but I have a very different relationship with poker these days. It doesn’t consume me like it used to.”
