“The tournament was very intense.”

So said Vitor “Vitorbrasil” Moreira when we asked him about Event #48-M of the 2020 World Championship of Online Poker.

It was a $530 buy-in no-limit hold’em event played eight-handed in the progressive knockout format. It attracted 3,856 entries, building a huge prize pool of $1.928 million. And some of online poker’s toughest and most consistent performers were there at the end.

“When playing a buy-in of this value, it’s always very challenging,” says Moreira.

The first day went well for the Brazilian. “I was able to maintain a good stack from the beginning,” says Moreira. “I eliminated several players and was able to move forward safely.”

"beastishngry" raised to 100,000 from under the gun and Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb called fropm the button.

The flop came {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and "beastishngry" continued for 260,000 before calling Deeb's 424,358 all in raise.

"beastishngry": {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Deeb was ahead after flopping a pair of eights but it was short-lived as the {5-Clubs} dropped on the turn giving "beastishngry" the nut flush leaving Deeb drawing dead.

The meaningless {8-Spades} completed the board on the river and Deeb took his exit in 55th place for $2,980.
