Day 1de Completed
Flights D and E of the $370 Opening Event followed the same drill as the previous flights by paying 12% of the field and ending play when the field was trimmed to just 8%.
Play for Flight D began at 11 a.m. and it turned out to be the largest of all five starting fields drawing a huge 608 entries and ended when 48 players remained.
Flight E drew a smaller crowd with 314 entries that was played down to 24 remaining players by the end of the day around 4am.
Leading all players of both flights at the end of the day was Maxwell Schrack, who bagged an incredible 1,329,000. He was spotted with a large stack about midway through play in Flight D. He continued to gain chips as play progressed, including in a dramatic hand in which he burst the money bubble when his pocket sixes found a third six on the river to eliminate a player who was holding pocket kings.
Also bagging big from Flight D were Ian Mason (807,500), Justin Stonehill (680,000), Darren Nelson (614,500) and Joey Yoon (552,000)
Even though as a whole Flight E did not produce as many large stacks there were some big big stacks at the conclusion of play, including the leader Columbus Randolph Jr who will bring a stack of 1,123,000 with him to Day 2. Kashka Corpening with 641,000, James Priest who bagged 553,000 and Ian Davis with 519,000 were a few of the other players to end with large stacks at the end of play.
In total among all five starting flights, 154 players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday, which starts at noon local time. PokerNews will provide the exciting Day 2 coverage; so make sure to follow all the updates.
