Field Surpasses 200

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

It is still early in the day but already the field has swelled beyond the 200 mark with 219 players currently playing on Day 1c. That number will continue to grow until the end of Level 11 though it remains to be seen whether the total number of entries for today will set a new high compared to the two previous flights.

Sangbouasy Scores Two Big Pots

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Sam Sangbouasy limped from middle position and was raised by the player in the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way to send the action back to Sangbouasy who made the call to see a flop.

Sangbouasy checked to the aggressor on a flop of {q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} who continued for 1,000. That was not enough to shed Sangbouasy who just called.

The {10-Diamonds} turn saw Sangbouasy check once more and again his opponent, rather than slowing down, fired off 2,000. The second barrel did not convince Sangbouasy to surrender as he flatted.

On the {q-Clubs} river Sangbouasy seized the betting lead, pushing a meaty 15,000 into the middle. His opponent immediately folded.

The very next hand saw Sangbouasy in action once again. A player opened to 900 from under the gun and was called by Sangbouasy in middle position as well as the player immediately to his left and the big blind.

The big blind led out for 1,500 on the {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop which was enough to force the under the gun player out of the hand but not enough to elicit a fold from Sangbouasy. The player seated next to Sangbouasy did fold to send action heads up to the turn.

The {j-Diamonds} turn saw the big blind slow down, checking to Sangbouasy who bet 2,000. That bet was met by an all in for 17,100 from the big blind, sending Sangbouasy into the tank. After some consideration and asking the dealer for an exact count he did make the call with the covering stack to put his opponent at risk.

Big Blind Player: {10-Spades}{6-Spades}
Sam Sangbouasy: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Sangbouasy was well ahead with his overpair and held on the {8-Clubs} river to send the big blind player packing while seeing his own stack shoot up the leaderboard.

Zayas Chips Up

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

A player limped from early position as did a player in middle position and the small blind. Joseph Zayas in the big blind opted to raise to 3,300 and received a sole call from the early position player.

Action checked through the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop to the {10-Diamonds} turn at which point Zayas led out for 6,000. That bet was enough to force his opponent out of the hand, sending a decent pot Zayas' way.

Break Time

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Players have been sent on their first 15-minute break of the day. When they return, blinds will be 300/500 with a 500 big blind ante. Already 272 players have entered the fray today, almost matching the entire total from Day 1a. With seven more levels to play before late registration closes, there is a good chance that today's field will be the largest of the starting flights so far.

Einsidler Finds A Call

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The button limped as did the small blind to send the action to Izzy Einsidler in the big blind, who decided to raise to 1,500. Both opponents called to send the action three-way to the flop.

The small blind checked on a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Einsidler continued for 4,000. The button folded while the small blind called to generate a decently large pot heading to the turn.

Both players checked through the {3-Clubs} turn to the {7-Clubs} river at which point the small blind fired off a hefty 11,000. Einsidler appeared puzzled and considered for some time before deciding on a call. The player in the small blind turned over pocket sixes but they were no good as Einsidler revealed he held {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the superior two pair. The small blind was left with dust and eliminated on the next hand.

Marsans Takes Small Hit

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

A player in the cutoff limped as did the button. Mario Marsans responded with a raise to 2,000 out of the small blind, which was called by the big blind. Both limpers got out of the way to send action heads up to the flop.

Marsans led out for 2,500 on the {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop only to see his opponent raise to 7,500. Marsans made the call.

The {a-Spades} turn saw Marsans slow down, checking before folding to a 10,000 barrel to take a small hit to his stack.
