Luong Takes One Down; Kim Surges

Level 10 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

A player in early position limped and Dave Howard limped behind. Chris Lee raised to 12,000 from the cutoff and Anthony Luong called from the small blind. The big blind and both limpers called as well.

Everyone checked on the {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} flop and action checked to the early-position player on the {4-Hearts} turn. Only Luong called.

Both players checked again on the {6-Spades} river and Luong announced, "Just an ace," to which his opponent said, "It's good." Luong tabled {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for aces and fours and his opponent mucked.

On another table, it appeared Roy Kim was involved in a big pot against Andrew Voor, wherein Kim eliminated Voor and soared into the tournament chip lead.

Dean Palokangas
Dean Palokangas

A player in early position limped and Dean Palokangas raised to 9,000 on the button. Tom Morrison called in the big blind and the initial limper folded.

Both players checked on the {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop and Morrison led out for 15,000 on the {a-Diamonds} turn. Palokangas called.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board and Morrison checked to Palokangas, who bet 25,000. Morrison called and Palokangas showed him {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a boat. Morrison revealed the {7-Spades} and mucked — conceding the pot to Palokangas.

Chris Lee
Chris Lee

Dave Howard limped from under-the-gun, the player directly behind him limped, and Chris Lee raised the pot to 8,800. The player in the cutoff called cold and the player in the big blind went all in for 31,500. Howard also went all in for 30,000 total and action folded to Lee, who re-raised to 120,000. The cutoff folded and hands were revealed.

Dave Howard: {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Chris Lee: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Big blind: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} — leaving Lee's aces best for the double elimination.

Howard rebought after busting.

Kim Keeps Firing

Level 8 : Blinds 800/1,600, 0 ante

The player under-the-gun limped and action folded to Roy Kim on the button, who raised to 5,000. Only the big blind called.

Both players checked on the {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop and Kim was checked to again on the {2-Clubs} turn, prompting a 16,000 bet from Kim. His opponent called.

The big blind checked and Kim flung out a single 25,000 chip for a bet. His opponent thought for a bit before letting his hand go.
