$10K GTD $300 NLH Double Greenchip Bounty Begins at 3 p.m.

While Day 1b of the Monumental Stack has taken over the MGM National Harbor poker room so far today, it's not the only event on the schedule.

The $300 No-Limit Hold'em Double Greenchip Bounty event begins at 3 p.m. local time. This event features a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Players begin with a 25,000 starting stack. Levels are 20 minutes long until Level 10, when they will be extended to 25 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 10. $50 of every buy-in will go towards the bounties.

Min Smacks the River to Bust Two

Byeong Min raised to 2,000 under the gun and Lucas Vergara moved all in for 4,000 in the cutoff. The button then reraised to 13,000, and Min called.

The flop came 4♣5♣4♠ and the button moved all in for 54,300. "Do you got ace-king over there?" he asked Min, who tanked for a few minutes.

"What do you got?" Min replied.

"A 54,300 bet," the button answered. Min eventually ended up calling.

The button was ahead with his tens and poised to scoop the pot as the turn came the Q♠, but Min spiked the 9♦ on the river to make a full house and send both opponents to the rail.

"The river has been brutal all day," another tablemate added. Min moved up close to 300,000 with that pot.

Kuckreja Raises Big on the River

A player in the small blind led out for 6,500 on a flop of 2♥5♠5♥ and Amit Kuckreja called in the big blind.

Both players checked the 10♦ turn. The small blind then bet 15,500 on the 10♣ river, and Kuckreja raised to 52,000. His opponent called with J♣J♦, but Kuckreja turned over K♠K♣ to win the pot and move up to around 150,000.

Thompson Shoves in Five-Bet Pot

A player in the small blind three-bet to 4,000 and the big blind called, as did another opponent in early position. Ed Thompson then four-bet to 17,000 in the cutoff and the small blind folded, while the big blind then five-bet to 45,000. Only Thompson called.

The small blind checked the K♣4♣J♥ flop, and Thompson bet 16,000. His opponent called to the 7♥ turn, where Thompson moved all in for 40,000. The small blind quickly folded, and Thompson took down the big pot.

"Had me on the ropes," Thompson told her.

The field is headed off on the first break of Day 1b, with the tournament clock currently showing 115 entries.

Around 55,000 was in the pot as three players went to the turn with the board showing 10♥6♠2♦Q♦. Diego Campos then moved all in for 57,000 from the big blind, and only an opponent under the gun called.

Campos showed 10♦8♦ for a pair and flush draw, while his opponent had 7♦6♦. The K♦ river gave both players a flush, but Campos' ten-high was good enough for him to win the pot and double up.

Al Husseini Shows Two Pair in Massive Pot

A player in the cutoff three-bet to 4,000 and was called by Mudhafar Al Husseini under the gun and another opponent in middle position.

The flop came 6♠2♠5♦ and the middle-position player bet 3,500. The cutoff then raised to 10,000, and Al Husseini raised to 30,000. Only the cutoff called.

Al Husseini bet another 20,000 on the Q♥ turn, and the cutoff again called. The river was the 10♥ and Al Husseini bet 35,000. His opponent turned over A♠K♠ and tossed them into the muck, andn Al Husseini showed 6♥5♥ while taking in the big pot that moved up past 200,000.

The field on Day 1b has gone over 100 total entries so far near the end of Level 4.

Some Early Faces in the Crowd

Among the 85 players who've shown up to Day 1b of the Monumental Stack today is Lucas Vergara, who finished runner-up in the Potomac Poker Open Main Event last year for $148,800.

Daniel Iachan, who's made it into the top 100 of the WSOP Main Event each of the last two years and just cashed in the Borgata Summer Poker Open Main Event two weeks ago, is also in today's field.

Dennis Backhaus, dressed in an all-rubber duck suit today, just learned the hard way to trust the poker gods.

According to Backhaus, he was driving into the MGM National Harbor this morning and was behind a car with the license plate "DEFND 2A." The first flop he saw today on Day 1b then came down A-2-2.

The next hand, Backhaus actually picked up A-2 on the button but foldled to a raise from early position. The board came down J-4-3-5-X, and a player holding two kings won a pot worth more than 30,000. Backhaus, though, would've made a straight.

"Did I miss a premonition?" Backhaus wrote in a text message to some friends.

Did Austin Make a Monumental Raise in the Monumental Stack?

A player in the hijack raised to 1,000 before Richard Austin three-bet on the button. The dealer announced his raise as 35,000, but Austin insisted he had made it only 3,500.

"I heard 3,500. That would be a little aggressive, 35,000," another tablemate chimed in, and Austin's raise stood as 3,500. The hijack called, and they went heads-up to the A♦Q♦2♥ flop.

Austin then bet 4,500, and his opponent called. Austin bet another 7,000 on the 3♠ turn, and the hijack folded this time.

The field on Day 1b has grown to 65 entries about midway through Level 2.

Jim Dike Bursts the Bubble on Day 1a of the Monumental Stack

A player gets in his last 250,000 from the big blind with A♠10♦, but Jim Dike has him dominated with A♥J♦ and improves to top pair on the flop to burst the money bubble on Day 1a of the Monumental Stack.
