Klein's Quest For a Third Run It Up Reno Main Event Title Gets an Early Boost

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Loren Klein
Loren Klein

After the full {7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} board was on the felt, a player checked from middle position. Loren Klein bet 12,500 on the button, and his opponent called, only to muck after Klein showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

"Is that how you win tournaments?" a player asked Klein. Klein responded with, "Sets help."

Klein, a four-time WSOP bracelet winner, also owns two Run It Up Reno Main Event titles to his credit. In last year's Main Event, Dan O'Brien denied Klein his third Main Event title, but Klein looks to be poised to go deep yet again here at Peppermill Reno.

Lindner Makes Correct Call Against Apostol

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

With a {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop on the board, Chris Lindner bet 1,500 from the small blind, and Tyson Apostol called.

Lindner continued for 2,500 on the {j-Hearts} turn, and Apostol called again.

Lindner checked the {10-Clubs} river, Apostol bet 6,000, and Lindner thought it over for a few moments before calling.

"You got it," said Apostol, who mucked without showing his hand. Lindner turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Apostol checked the {10-Hearts} river to Cochran, who bet 5,000. Apostol called, and after Cochran showed his {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for a straight, Apostol showed {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a defeated two pair.

All three players checked the {10-Clubs} turn. The {8-Diamonds} fell on the river, Van Patten bet 6,000, and both opponents called.
