Newland Doubles Up Elwell

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Vincent Newland raised to 25,000 from middle position, then called a three-bet shove for 44,000 from Dallas Elwell in the hijack.

Dallas Elwell: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Vincent Newland: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"How about a five?" Elwell asked. No five fell on the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, but Newland said, "There's a five," after the {5-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Newland could still earn the KO with a king or queen, but the {7-Diamonds} river gave Elwell the small double.

Controversy At Table 31

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Loren Klein limped in the small blind, and Andrew Smith raised to 40,000 in the big blind. As Klein took another look at his cards, Smith informed Klein that he saw one of Klein's cards.

Floor was called over to give a ruling, with Smith saying that he only saw the suit of one of Klein's cards. In spite of that information, Klein decided to go all in. Smith looked over at Klein's stack, and Klein made sure to protect his cards.

"You're cut off from seeing my cards this hand," Klein said, which got a laugh from some of the other players at the table. Smith eventually folded, and Klein took in the small pot.

Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

Alon Eldar raised to 22,000 from under the gun, and was called by Ronnie Bardah in the cutoff, Jeremy Pekarek in the small blind, and Max Young in the big blind.

Action checked to Bardah on a {7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, and he bet 45,000. Only Young called.

Both players checked the {q-Diamonds} turn, and Young bet 40,000 on the {j-Clubs} river, which Bardah quickly called. Young tabled {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}, but Bardah held the winner with his {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Burgess Hero Calls Ivanovski, and He's Right

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Voislav Ivanovski opened to 21,000 in the hijack, and Alan Burgess called from the big blind.

Burgess checked, and Ivanovski continued for 25,000 on the {4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Spades} flop, which Burgess called. Both players then checked the {7-Hearts} turn.

The river fell {6-Diamonds}, Burgess bet 15,000, and Ivanovski raised to 50,000. Burgess thought it over for a few moments before making the call and tabling {q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

"Sick call," said Ivanovski as Burgess took in the pot.

Horter Takes Pot That Nobody Wanted

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Chris Horter opened to 22,000 under the gun, and got calls from Khoa Tran and Voislav Ivanovski in the blinds.

All players checked through on the {3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop and {q-Diamonds} turn. Tran and Ivanovski checked again on the {k-Hearts} river, and Horter bet 24,000. The bet worked, as both opponents folded, and Horter enthusiastically showed {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Bizarre Hand at Table 28 Leads to a Capps Double

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jesse Capps
Jesse Capps

Ted McNeely raised to 30,000 from middle position, and Jesse Capps called on the button.

McNeely checked the {9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop to Capps, who bet 23,000. McNeely called.

McNeely checked again on the {2-Diamonds} turn, and Capps bet 40,000. McNeely check-raised to 140,000, and Capps, who had 101,000 behind, went into a long tank.

"I should've checked the turn," Capps said. "How's this happen?"

Capps began pacing and stretching at different points in his four-minute tank, before emphatically declaring a call.

Capps still had 1,000 in chips left, which went in on the {3-Diamonds} river, and McNeely called.

Jesse Capps: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Ted McNeely: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}

Capps said he nearly folded his middle set on the turn, while his tablemates looked on in shock at his hand. Capps brought in the double, while McNeely was left short.
