Six-Figure Stack for Stallard

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Larry Stallard is in the rarefied air of the 100k stacks as Level 9 winds down on Day 1a.

Stallard hit that mark on a hand that saw the big blind player go all in for his last 13,000 on a {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop. Stallard made the call from the cutoff, having his opponent well covered.

"I have a jack," said the big blind player as the cards turned over.

Big Blind: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Stallard: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

That jack was ahead at the time, but the {4-Spades} brought in the flush on the turn for Stallard. The big blind was drawing dead at that point, as the {4-Clubs} on the river changed nothing.

Pal Slowed Down by Spikell

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Carlos Pal bet 5,100 from under the gun on a {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs} board, and Bruce Spikell jammed for 28,800 next to act. Pal called.

Bruce Spikell: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Carlos Pal: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

It was an action turn card, as Pal hit a set while Spikell held Broadway. The {a-Spades} river failed to pair up Pal, and Spikell doubled up.

Arlie Shaban, a popular Twitch streamer and contestant on Big Brother Canada, just took his seat into the Mini Main Event, and found himself in action almost immediately.

Action folded to Shaban in the hijack after he sat down, and he raised to 2,000. Jon Turner three-bet to 5,800 from the cutoff, and action folded back to Shaban, who instantly tossed his hand to the muck.
