McCormick Sends Petzing Out the Door

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

James Petzing got his stack of roughly 17,000 all in preflop and was at risk against Don McCormick.

Petzing: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
McCormick: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} flop made things interesting by giving McCormick a set but also a flush draw to Petzing.

The {k-Clubs} turn was of no consequence and neither was the {4-Clubs} river. Petzing missed and hit the rail shortly before the second break of the day.

McCormick Doubles Through Boltryk

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

The preflop action escaped us but we do know that Don McCormick got his stack of 8,900 all in and was at risk against Lech Boltryk.

Boltryk: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
McCormick: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

It was a race but McCormick needed to improve to stay alive. He managed to do it when the {8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop paired his eight, and he held through both the {9-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river.

Brown Doubles Big with Quads

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

We arrived at the table late so missed out on some details. It appeared as if Maxwell Brown had check-raised the turn all in for 22,600 from the big blind with the board reading {7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and around 25,000 already in the pot. His opponent, who was on the button, made the call and discovered the bad news.

Brown: {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Button: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Brown had quad sevens and was pushed the large pot after the meaningless {q-Diamonds} was run out on the river.

Chop Up the Boat

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Jason Daniele, a three-time RIU Reno trophy winner, raised to 600 under the gun and Robert Brown called from the cutoff. The players in the small and big blinds both called and it was four-way action to the {2-Hearts}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop.

Everyone checked and the {3-Clubs} appeared on the turn. The small blind checked, the player in the big bet 1,500, and only Daniele called to see the river, which was another three (the {3-Spades}).

The big blind bet 4,000 and Daniele quickly called. The big blind tabled the {3-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Daniele revealed the {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for the same full house. Chop it up!

Trivett Busts Martin, Who Promptly Re-Enters

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

A short-stacked Kevin Martin moved all in for 6,300 from the cutoff and Michael Trivett called from the small blind. The player from the big came along as well and then both active players checked the {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop.

When the {k-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, Trivett bet 4,500 and chased out the big blind.

"I'm probably drawing dead," Martin admitted.

Martin: {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Trivett: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Indeed he was but that didn't stop him from calling for another ace of clubs on the river, which ended up being the {6-Hearts} instead.

"Hoping for a foul deck," Martin said with a smile before heading to the registration desk to jump right back into action.
