Another side event that played out on Sunday was the $235 buy-in, $20K GTD 6-Max H.O.R.S.E., a tournament that drew 94 runners and offered up a $20,000 prize pool.

Among those to get a piece of it but fall short of the final table were Joe Brandenburg (7th - $660), James Petzing (12th - $440), Jason Somerville (14th - $360), and James Brundige (16th - $360).

The UK’s Adam Owen, who now resides in Mexico City, finished on top to win a shiny RIU trophy and $5,955 first-place prize.

Schackman Doubles Back to Starting Stack

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Dylan Schackman got his stack of 7,400 all in preflop and was at risk against Patrick Carroll.

Carroll: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Schackman: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Schackman was ahead but the {10-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop made things interesting by giving Carroll an open-ended straight draw. Fortunately for Schackman, neither the {q-Clubs} turn nor {8-Hearts} river completed it and he shipped the double. Carroll was left with just 4,000 after the hand.

Pokrivnak Takes from Kassela

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Three-time bracelet winner and 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela raised to 800 under the gun and action folded all the way around to Andy Pokrivnak, who called from the big blind.

Both players checked the {9-Clubs}{a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop and then Pokrivnak led out for 1,200 on the {2-Diamonds} turn. Kassela called and then called a bet of 1,500 from Pokrivnak on the {10-Clubs} river.

Kassela showed the {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for top pair but it was no good as Pokrivnak had rivered two pair with his {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.
