Choleva Smacks the River For a Bustout; Meidinger Has the Better King
Level 16
: Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
A player in middle position moved all in for 24,000 and John Choleva called in the small blind, as did Brent Slaubaugh in early position.
The A♦K♦2♥ flop was checked through before Choleva bet 25,000 on the J♣ turn. Slaubaugh quickly folded.
Choleva showed A♠8♠ for top pair, but his opponent had hit two pair with K♥J♠. The river, though, was the A♥ and Choleva made trips to send his opponent to the rail.
At another table, a player in the cutoff moved all in for 55,000 on a flop of 2♠K♥8♣ and Jamie Meidinger put him at risk in middle position.
All-In Player: K♣10♣
Jamie Meidinger: K♦J♣
Both players showed top pair, but Meidinger was ahead with his jack-kicker. The rest of the board ran out Q♠A♠ and Meidinger scored the knockout.
