Schreier Spikes the River to Double
Level 14
: Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Anthony Schreier bet 40,000 from under the gun on a flop of K♠8♠2♠ and Dan Thompson called in middle position. Paul Johnson then moved all in from the button.
Schreier took several minutes to consider the decision. "I just wanted to bag," Schreier said as he eventually slammed in his last 76,000, sending action on Thompson.
"Paul, do you want a call? I have a big pocket pair," he said to Johnson before being told not to talk about the hand with action pending. He eventually gave up his hand.
Anthony Schreier: A♠K♦
Paul Johnson: 8♦8♥
"King or a spade," Schreier pleaded going to the turn, which came the Q♦. Schreier was a card from elimination, but he spiked the J♠ on the river to make his flush and double up.
"I hate ace-king," he added.
