The hand began with a raise to 18,000 from the hijack. Bradley Anderson came along with a call on the button. Ron Fetsch joined the party with a call from the big blind.
The Q♣4♥8♥ flop resulted in a check from Fetsch. The hijack continued for 18,000, which led to a fold from Anderson. Fetsch, however, came along with a call.
Fetsch checked it again on the 2♦ turn before the hijack kept up the pressure with a wager of 20,000. Fetsch pounced with a check-raise to 70,000, which put his opponent in the tank.
The hijack gave it considerable thought before he thought better of continuing in the hand as he folded to award Fetsch the pot.

A player from early position made it 16,000 to go before Denis Lee responded with a three-bet to 60,000 from the hijack. His opponent went all-in and was called by Lee, who put himself at risk for 112,000.

The 4♥10♦3♣ flop gave his opponent little to work with, as it was safe for Lee.
Lee stayed ahead on the 3♥ turn and the 2♥ river as he scored the double up to stay in the mix on Day 1a.

The 2♥J♣5♦ flop led to a check from the small blind before Fetsch continued for 15,000. The button called while the small blind folded.
The 4♣ turn led to a second barrel from Fetsch as he chose to wager 30,000. The button stuck around with a call.
Both players checked the 4♥ river to go to a showdown.
Fetsch showed A♥5♥ for two pair of jacks and fives. The button folded without showing, awarding Fetsch the pot.

Yu was in the lead with his pocket jacks, and they stayed ahead on the 9♦5♥6♥ flop, but Lee gained some additional outs to score the potential double knockout with a gutshot straight draw.
The 9♠ turn was a welcome sight for Yu as he was one card away from scoring the double and the knockout.
Yu's jacks would improve on the J♥ river to hit a full house.

Michael Persky opened to 10,000 from the hijack before the button went all-in for 76,000 in response. Brett Murray woke up with a hand he was willing to go with, as he also went all-in from the small blind to isolate. Persky bowed out with a fold as Murray went to a showdown with the button at risk.

Murray would fail to improve on the K♣ turn as he was hunting for six outs with one card left.
Murray would find the ace on the A♣ river as his opponent was eliminated from contention.

The 4♥3♣Q♣ flop gave the hijack plenty to work with, as the hijack flopped a wheel draw as well as a flush draw to go with their ace.
The 7♦ turn did not alter the standings, as Paredes was still in front with his pocket pair.
Paredes would fade his opponent's outs when the 9♠ hit the river.
