Horace Ingram arrived at the Hollywood Casino & Hotel today for Day 1c of the Gateway Poker Classic $800 Main Event impeccably dressed in a sharp, pink suit and diamond chain. He left it as the man to beat atop a packed field.
Ingram ended up as chip leader with 767,000 after a crowded third opening flight, with 237 players coming out to take their shot at the championship trophy. Only 29 survived the day, and it looked like Ingram wouldn’t be among them. He was all in for his last 200,000 with two queens, but ran right into Fouad Fahsi’s kings. The flop brought no help, but Ingram spiked a queen on the turn to win the massive pot. “I finally suck out the first time in my life!” he shouted out in celebration.

Shelby Burton is in second place with 698,000, while Gene Janushanis (643,000), Kyle Parrish (597,000), and Jerry Knoche (542,000) round out the top five. Matthew Blackwell spiked the river on back-to-back hands to vault up the leaderboard and bag up 430,000. Others through to Day 2 include Brady Schlueter (393,000), WSOP bracelet winner Jason Simon (343,000), Mark Lafata (195,000), and Glen “the Cannon” Gruner (150,000).
Papa Karn, the father of RunGood founder Tana Karn, fell a few spots short of the money for the second straight day. Dennis Phillips, Toran Tate, Dutch Boyd, and Michael Estes were also among those sent to the rail over the course of the day.
The 237 entries on Day 1c brought the field up to 521 through the first three starting flights. There are also 179 players currently in Day 1d, and the field will surpass 700 total entries by the time late registration closes. A total of 64 have already secured their spots for Day 2.
All surviving players return tomorrow at noon local time to play down to a champion. The action will pick up on the earliest finishing time from one of the flights. Day 1c ended with three minutes remaining in Level 17 with blinds of 6,000/12,000 and a 12,000 big blind ante, just beating out the first two flights.

Terry Stuhldreher raised to 31,000 on the button, Fouad Fahsi moved all in for 120,000 in the big blind, and Stuhldreher called.

Fahsi had run right into Stuhldreher's aces, and he made a quick exit from the tournament area after the board ran out K♣5♦Q♥K♥9♦ to send him to the rail on the money bubble.

Jerry Knoche raised to 25,000 in the cutoff, Brett Hagopian moved all in for 74,000 in the small blind, and Knoche called.

A player in middle position raised to 30,000 and Kyle Parrish called in the cutoff. Glen "Cannon" Gruner then moved all in for 48,000 in the small blind, the middle-position player reraised to 120,000, and Parrish got out of the way.

Gruner had his opponent dominated with his queens, and the K♣6♥5♦10♠3♠ board kept him in the lead to earn him a double up.

Gene Janushanis raised to 27,000 in middle position and was called by Papa Karn in the hijack and Naveen Chepuri in the cutoff.
Action checked to Chepuri on the 4♠10♦9♣ flop, and he bet 50,000. Only Karn called.
Chepuri moved all in on the 10♣ turn, and Karn called for his last 14,000. Karn showed K♠Q♥ for a straight draw, while Chepuri had 6♣4♣ for a pair and flush draw.
The 4♥ river improved Chepuri to trips, and Karn was sent to the rail.

A player under the gun moved all in, and Fouad Fahsi called for 51,000 on the button.

The under-the-gun player hit top set on the A♣7♣4♣ flop, and Fahsi had already left the table by the time the J♠ fell on the turn. "Come back!" Horace Ingram shouted out to him as Fahsi had straight and flush draws, and the 10♣ river gave him his flush to earn the double up.
