Not Quite the Nuts

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

A player in middle position bet 500 on a board of {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Ross Bybee raised to 1,200. His opponent called, bringing an {8-Diamonds} river. Bybee bet 3,400 after his opponent checked, and the player called.

"I've got the nuts," Bybee said, turning over {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

Baker's Opponent Can't Muck Overpair

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

RunGood Pro Amanda Baker was in the big blind and bet 3,600 on a board of {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} against an opponent in the cutoff, who made the call. Baker fired 5,000 more on the {7-Hearts} river, and her opponent thought for awhile.

"Kings?" she wondered aloud.

Eventually, she did toss in a call, and her read proved nearly correct as Baker revealed {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. The player in the cutoff mucked {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} face-up.

Baker's fellow RunGood Pro Chris Conrad also registered for the tournament.

We found Rodney Spriggs raising an opponent's 1,500 bet to 4,500 on a {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board. The bettor, who was in the big blind, moved all in, and Spriggs snap-called, since he had {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for aces full. His opponent turned over {j-}{9-} for trips and Spriggs' stack of 16,425 was counted down and he received a full double.

Spriggs has more than $200,000 in lifetime tournament cashes, and he got third at RunGood Hard Rock Tulsa just a couple of months ago for $14,410.

After some time off, the RunGood Poker Series has returned, this time with an event at Downstream Casino Resort in Quapaw, Okla. The $675 Main Event is set to kick off with the first of three starting flights at 7 p.m. local time. The plan for Day 1a is to play 13 levels, each lasting 30 minutes apiece. Blinds will begin at 25/50 and each player will start with 20,000. Ten minute breaks will be given every four levels, and players may reenter as many times as they wish for the first eight levels.

The prize pool features a $100,000 guarantee, and in addition cash prizes, the final table participants will all bink $2,000 Blaycation packages to the season-ending RunGood Championship, which will be held in New Orleans.

Last October, RunGood's main event here at Downstream drew 262 entries, and Mark Martin took it down when the dust had settled, topping a final table that included RunGood Pros Justin Gardenhire, Michael Sanders, and Ryan Tepen. This fall's event is sure to be another good one, so stay tuned here for all of the live reporting.
