Flurry of Eliminations

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The chips are flying here and the eliminations are happening fast. We've had four players eliminated in the past ten minutes and we were able to witness one of them.

Suzanne Cooley opened for a raise pre-flop and Heather Alcorn put in a three-bet. Cooley moved all in and Alcorn made the call. Cooley held {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} against Alcorn's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but Alcorn would flop a set when it came {Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} and would send Cooley to the rail when the turn and river came {2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

Alcorn would then lose the majority of her stack a few minutes later to Terry Presley when both players flopped a set but Presley's set of nines was better than Alcorn's set of sevens.

Chase Fitzgerald was eliminated in 28th place for $1,417. Ross Bybee was the 27th place finisher for $1,700. Cooley finished in 26th for $1,700 and Jerry Kahl was the 25th place finisher, also for $1,700.

Randy Fikki Eliminated

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Randy Fikki
Randy Fikki

Randy Fikki and his short-stack got the last of his chips in from the small blind holding {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} after the player on the button had opened. Unfortunately for Fikki his opponent had a hand, the best hand possible actually as he had {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The board would run out {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Fikki would be eliminated in 29th place for $1,417.

Martin and Griffin Eliminated

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Martin was eliminated when he ran {3-}{3-} into {Q-}{Q-} and was unable to improve. The defending champion of this event had survived with a short stack for most of the day but his luck finally ran out.

John Griffin had a short stack but thought he hit the dream flop with his {5-}{5-} when the flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs} giving him a set of fives. Unfortunately for him, his opponent had flopped a bigger set with {J-}{J-} and that would be the end of Griffin's tournament.

Both players received $1,417. There are 29 players remaining.

Ellis Wins Massive Pot

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Matt Ellis opened for 20,000 and Darren Attebery called from the button. The two would see a flop of {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Ellis checked to Attebery who made a bet of 40,000. Ellis check-raised all in and Attebery made the call creating a massive pot of over 650,000. Ellis had {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} which was way ahead of the {Q-}{Q-} Attebery held.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and the river was the {10-Diamonds} and a shell-shocked Attebery was eliminated while Ellis easily assumed the chip lead with 690,500 in chips.

No Bubble - In the Money!

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jerry Adams was eliminated in 38th place when his {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades} could not outdraw Steve Eoff's {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Right as the tournament was going to go hand-for-hand, Rodney Spriggs was eliminated in 37th place when he got the last of his chips in with the nut flush draw against Terry Presley's middle pair. Spriggs didn't hit his flush and the tournament is now officially in the money.
