Montes Doubles Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

It's been a rough go for Jose Montes so far, as he's bricked a couple of bullets but he's off to a good start on his latest attempt. He and an opponent each put in 3,000 on an {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, and a {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Montes check-called 5,000 and then led all in for 8,650 when the {j-Diamonds} completed the board.

His opponent called fairly quickly but Montes showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush.

Karn Lets One Go

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Terry Karn, a player in the cutoff, and Alex Gunhus in the big blind all saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for 2,200 each. Karn fired 2,500 when Gunhus checked, and the cutoff made it 7,500. Gunhus folded after some thought, and Karn followed suit.

Karn has been on fire in RunGood events this year, with four cashes to his credit, including a victory in the Deepstack last week for about $10,000.

Arndt Gets Paid Big

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Ryan Tepen
Ryan Tepen

Cutoff Rich Arndt bet 7,000 into a pot of over 16,000 on a completed board of {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}. His opponent who checked in middle position tossed in a call, and Arndt showed {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trips.

At another table, Ryan Tepen took a seat. Tepen fired a few bullets unsuccessfully on Day 1a, but the RunGood Pro has been arguably the most successful player on the tour to date with two wins to his credit.

Players are on break for 15 minutes.

No Kicker Trouble for Gunhus

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Alex Gunhus checked a completed board of {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades} out of the big blind, and his opponent under the gun bet 5,100.

"I think you've got me outkicked," Gunhus said with a sigh as he nonetheless called.

"Nope," his neighbor said with a laugh, showing {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a whiffed double draw.

Gunhus took it with {q-}{j-}.

Early Busto for Mader

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

A player in the hijack made it 450 to go, and Phil Mader reraised to 1,200. His opponent shoved all in, and Mader thought about a minute and tossed in what looked like a reluctant call.

Mader: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The flop was {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}, and Mader needed help. He called for an eight, but almost as good was the {5-Diamonds}, which gave him a straight draw. A {9-Diamonds} river was no help, though.

Mader said he's coming back in.
