Day 1c Completed

Busquet Flattens Competition on Day 1b/c to Bag Huge Lead at Hard Rock Tulsa

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Olivier Busquet
Olivier Busquet

Olivier Busquet has an array of poker accomplishments that would make most players in a high roller tournament envious. So, it's no surprise that when he took a seat in Day 1b of RunGood Hard Rock Tulsa's $675 Main Event, he put on a display of poker prowess that enabled him to turn a starting stack of 20,000 into 382,500.

That's good for a huge chip lead after the last of three flights, Day 1c, bagged up for the night. Mike Berger's 232,000 led the 33 players who made it through Day 1c, and combined with the 24 survivors of Day 1b and the 17 who made it through Thursday's Day 1a, that's a total of 74 players who booked tickets to Saturday's Day 2.

Busquet, who counts wins on the World Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour High Roller circuit among his $6.8 million in cashes, won a huge pot in Level 10 (800/1,600/200). He was against an opponent in the big blind who check-called 4,000 on a {4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop and 7,500 more on the {k-Clubs} turn. On the {10-Spades} river, the big blind bet out 8,000 and called off when Busquet put him all in for about 24,000 more. Busquet quickly turned over the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for the nuts and took the pot.

Fellow Day 1b player Gil George is Busquet's nearest competitor with 312,000. Others who made it through the two Friday flights included Mina Greco (129,000), Chris Conrad (126,500), Duma Lowery (90,000), Sam Abernathy (80,000), Michael Sanders (77,500), Jonathan Gaviao (55,000), Will Berry (58,500), and Tommy Vedes (48,500).

Day 1b drew 118 runners and Day 1c 130, so the total through three flights came to 336, and the winner of the tournament will bank $45,595 plus an added $10,000 seat to the World Series of Poker Main Event.

Day 2 commences Saturday at noon local time, so come right back to PokerNews to see who will take it down.

Jennings Likes the Turn

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Greg Jennings
Greg Jennings

Greg Jennings bet 7,400 after one opponent checked a {9-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop, and a played in the cutoff jammed for about 28,000. The small blind folded, and Jennings quickly called with {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}. His opponent was in bad shape with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and the {k-Diamonds} turn left him drawing to a chop. The {4-Spades} river sent the pot to Jennings.

Players will bag up after two more hands.

Greco Coolers One

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Mina Greco put in 10,000 after an opponent checked to her on a {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop, and her opponent announced all in. Greco beat him into the pot and showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, and her unfortunate foe had {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The {7-Spades} on the turn ended things, and stacks were counted down. Greco's opponent had about 46,000 and she covered that and sent him to the door.

"He Hates Showing that Jack-Deuce"

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Three players limped just before the level went up, and Josh Sandoval popped it to 10,000 on the button. Rodney Spriggs, the opening limper, was the only taker. The two saw a {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop, which Spriggs checked. Sandoval bet 10,500, and Spriggs called. Both checked the {7-Diamonds} and the {5-Spades}.

"I probably should have bet," Spriggs said, flipping {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and knowing it would have a tough time winning a showdown.

Sandoval showed {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

"He hated showing that jack-deuce," Spriggs said with a laugh as his opponent dragged the pot.

Berger Crushes Two; Bybee Out

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Ross Bybee
Ross Bybee

Three players saw an {8-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Spades} flop in a three-bet pot, and Mike Berger fired 22,000 in the small blind. A player in the cutoff called, and the player on the button said he was all in for what looked to be 60,000. Berger immediately announced he was all in as well, and the cutoff pushed in his stack of 55,000 or so.

Berger: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Button: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

It was set over set with the cutoff rolling with his double gutter. That player found a meaningless pair on the {j-Clubs} turn, and the {4-Hearts} river missed everyone

Moments later at the same table, a short-stacked Ross Bybee met his demise.

Kilpatrick Loses a Race

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Ray Kilpatrick three-bet an opener out of the cutoff, only to see an opponent on the button ship it all in. Kilpatrick tanked awhile and called for 36,600 more, with 20,000 or so already in the pot.

Kilpatrick: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and Kilpatrick's queens were bested by a turned pair of kings.
