Jonathan Nye Leads 16 Survivors from Day 1A

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Jonathan Nye leads Day 1A.
Jonathan Nye leads Day 1A.

The first of three flights for the Harrah's North Kansas City RunGood Poker Main Event kicked off Friday at 7 pm and drew 97 entrants. The field played 12 levels and ended with 16 surviving players - just one off the hard stop - and Jonathan Nye edged his way out in front in the closing minutes of the day to bag the lead with 261,500.

Nye's tablemate Jay McVeigh was battling for the lead and ended the day with 235,500. Justin Young, Tim Woodson and Rick McGown also finished over 200,000 with 229,000, 214,000 and 201,000 respectively in the bag. RunGood regulars Bill Cole and Mark Fink survived the flight alongside local players Ali Zakeri, Frank Mondello and Alex Marler.

RunGood pros didn't fare well on Friday with all hitting the rail with relatively short days. Julie Anna Cornelius, Ray Henson and Clint Tolbert each played a few levels but Ryan Tepen lasted the longest.

Daniel Li spent most of the day near the top of the counts but he met his end in the last level of play. He ran his ace king into Rick McGown's pocket queens and the board ran dry for him.

Mondello spent most of his day around average but went on a heater after the last break to chip up significantly. He earned a double knockout holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} against opponents holding pocket queens and ace jack. He flopped trips and turned a full house to take a sizable pot.

Cornelius had especially painful day on the felt, losing a series of hands where she held a set and her oppoent either straightened out or flushed up.

Day 1B kicks off at noon and the final flight runs at 7 pm. There's a $160 Turbo satellite running at 4 pm with one out of five players earn a seat to the Main Event.
