RGPS Tulsa Hard Rock Main Event Profile: Halsten Kelso and a Poker Dream

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Halsten Kelso
Halsten Kelso

Halsten Kelso just won his seat to Day 1C in a satellite. During the satellite, he was sitting across from Sean McCormack who is the Director of Poker Operations at Aria.

During the tournament, McCormack video-called WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker and passed the phone to a fan so he could say hello to the champ. Moneymaker chatted for a few and then McCormack asked if he should call Daniel.

"Negreanu?" asked Kelso, "if you call him I will fold every hand to you from now on."

McCormack video-called Negreanu and handed the phone to Kelso.

"There are three people in my life I would want to talk to and two of them are dead," said Kelso. "The other is Daniel. That thirty seconds made my year and it's only May."

Kelso works for a natural gas and pipeline company after spending some time taking a shot at being a professional poker player.

"I got to try the dream," he said.

Now he is playing when he can. He won his seat in the satellite and is now playing for a shot at the final table and the Showbound satellite seat. Who knows, maybe he will end up at the same table with Negreanu.
