Wes Gauthier Eliminated in 17th Place ($2,519)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Wes Gauthier
Wes Gauthier

Mykel Comroe opened from the cutoff and was three-bet to 145,000 by Wes Gauthier out of the big blind. Comroe four-bet all in and Gauthier went into the tank for a while before announcing a call. The dealer confirmed the announcement and asked for hands to be tabled.

Wes Gauthier: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Mykal Comroe: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

A ten was visible in the window but it was only the tip of the iceberg as the flop fell {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, planting Comroe out in front with aces up. He would stay there as the turn {4-Hearts} and river {8-Clubs} completed the runout to leave his hand second-best.

Stacks were counted and Comroe's was proven to cover Gauthier's, leaving the dealer calling for a payout as Gauthier hit the rail in 17th place and Comroe collected his newly-acquired chips, taking him to the chip lead along the way.

Booth Gets a Double

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Jerry Booth shoved his last 48,000 in from the small blind after action was folded to him and received a call from Matthew Register out of the big blind.

Jerry Booth: {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Matthew Register: {k-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Booth's holding would remain best as the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}, giving him nines and eights and a little bit of breathing room for the time being, despite still remaining as the shortest stack left in the tournament.

Jones Hits Seven Figures

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Dennis Jones raised to 37,000 from the hijack and received a call from Everett Register, who defended his big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Register checked to Jones, who made a continuation-bet of 42,000. Register called.

The turn came {k-Clubs} and both players checked. Action again checked through on the river {q-Clubs} to take the hand to showdown.

Register showed {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of eights and Jones tabled {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines, good to earn him the pot and take him over 1 million in chips along the way.

Ruemenapp Rivers Aces Up; Chip Counts from Table 7

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Martin Ruemenapp opened to 40,000 from early position and action folded around to Tim Gilliam, who defended his big blind. The flop came {3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Gilliam check-called a continuation-bet of 30,000 from Ruemenapp.

Both players checked the turn {10-Spades} and river {k-Clubs} to take the hand to showdown.

Gilliam showed {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a turned two pair that became kings up on the river. Ruemenapp then tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, showing the river gave him aces up and scored him the pot as a result.

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Chris Hight went all in for his last 56,000 from the button and received action from Mark Burford out of the small blind.

Chris Hight: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Speed Frank
Speed Frank

Speed Frank went all in for his last 195,000 or so from the button and saw Bryan Chaler reraise all in over the top of him from the small blind, folding out Mykel Comroe in the big blind.

Speed Frank: {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Bryan Chaler: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Frank's "computer hand" was in need of improvement to stay alive in the tournament and he was unable to strike any luck as the board came {2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, sending him home in 18th place.

Jones Hits a Flush, Hight Short

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

There was at least 160,000 in the pot on a board reading {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades} with action on Dennis Jones in the big blind. Jones had checked and was facing a bet of 100,000 from Chris Hight, who was in early position. Jones called and the river came {k-Clubs}. Jones led out with a bet of 190,000 and Hight went into the tank for about 90 seconds before tossing in chips to call.

Jones tabled {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a flush and Hight turned over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, showing his aces had just been cracked. He was left with about 32,000 after paying off the bet then doubled on the following hand to get back to around 90,000.

Meanwhile, Jones appears to be just below 1 million now and is among the top stacks across the final two tables of play.
