Hitt Up Against Flopped Quads But Still Drawing Live

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Patrick Dorothy
Patrick Dorothy

We happened upon the action on a {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop after Don Hitt got his last approximately 40,000 all in against Patrick Dorothy.

Patrick Dorothy: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Don Hitt: {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Dorothy had flopped quad fours but Hitt was drawing live to an up-and-down straight flush draw. He was looking for either the deuce or six of diamonds, but it wasn't meant to be as the {k-Clubs} bricked on the turn followed by the {2-Spades} on the river.

Jack Matsuura Victorious in RGPS CardPlayer Cruise Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Jack Matsuura
Jack Matsuura

Last weekend, the RunGood Poker Series was on the high seas! They partnered with CardPlayer Cruises to host a series of events on a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean. There was a ton of poker action, and we thought it’d be fun to highlight some of the events right here in the blog.

In Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH, 115 runners created an $8,750 prize pool that was paid out to the top seven players. Poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson was one of the bounties and made it all the way to fourth place, though she was ineligible for the prize. That meant an extra spot got paid.

In the end, Jack Matsuura came out on top to win a $3,062 first-place prize.

Hitt & Run on Papa Karn

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Papa Karn
Papa Karn

Papa Karn got his last 15,000 all in preflop and was racing for his tournament life against Don Hitt.

Don Hitt: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Papa Karn: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Papa Karn was just looking to hold to double, but that proved easier to said than done as the board ran out {3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to give Hitt a winning two pair.

Pocket Rockets Propel Ross to a Double

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Thomas Ross
Thomas Ross

Thomas Ross opened with a raise from middle position only to have Tiffany Keathley three-bet to 6,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Ross and he four-bet jammed for 20,600 total, which Keathley called.

Tiffany Keathley: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Thomas Ross: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Ross had the goods and Keathley was left asking the dealer for spades. The {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop contained just one, and Keathley was left drawing dead after the {7-Hearts} paired the board on the turn.

The meaningless {6-Hearts} was run out on the river and Ross was pushed the double.

Kim Trips Up His Opponent

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chul Kim
Chul Kim

Chul Kim opened for 2,500 from the cutoff and the player on the button called. The big blind came along and it was three-way action to the {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. The big blind checked, Kim continued for 3,000, and the player in the cutoff called.

The big blind got out of the way and the {7-Spades} appeared on the turn. Kim checked and just called when his opponent bet 8,000.

When the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river, Kim shifted gears and led out for 6,000. His opponent paid it off only to muck when Kim rolled over the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for trip jacks.
