Day 1a of the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Tunica Horseshoe Main Event is over after 12 levels of play and Sim Therrell leads the 30 players heading into Day 2 on Sunday. He bagged 238,500.

Dan “Wretchy” Martin, Clint “CT” Tolbert, and Keith Fererra all played Day 1a and busted, while Kyle Cartwright surged late to come in just behind Therell with 178,000 after losing to a bad beat with pocket kings. Justin Gardenhire also bagged, ending the day with 128,000.

Some of the familiar local players bagged Day 2 as well including Joe Huey (117,000) and Connie Rice (30,000). John Walker, who won his seat from a single-table sit-and-go and was all in blind at one point in the tournament when short and in the big blind, also bagged a stack of 38,500.

The flight drew 135 entries and with satellites still going on, including one at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, the total field looks to be another big number.

There are two more flights Saturday at noon and 7 p.m. local time. Keep up with all the updates right here on PokerNews.com.

Flex Drag

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kyle Cartwright
Kyle Cartwright

Kyle Cartwright moved all in from early position. Joe Huey asked for a count and while the dealer was counting out the chips, Cartwright stood up.

He said he should be the chip leader of the whole tournament, speaking of a previous hand where he lost with pocket kings to a player who made trip jacks.

Cartwright tossed $5 in the pot and told Huey it was for him and to add it to the pot.

Huey called and Cartwright quickly took the $5 back. The table let out a sigh of disapproval as Cartwright took the money back.

A third player joined the pot calling off for less.

Cartwright: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Huey: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Short Stack: {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

As the dealer started running the board, Cartwright got up. He leaned down next to her and started calling for a nine or a heart.

The flop was {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

"Nine or a heart," he said.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}.

"Heart," he said with his face almost level with the dealer.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Cartwright won the pot.

He got everyone's attention and stripped off his jacket. He pulled up the sleeve of his t-shirt and flexed his right arm. Then he used his flexed arm to drag the pot toward him in several motions. A move the floor man referred to as the flex drag.

Double Blind Triple Up

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
John Walker
John Walker

John Walker was in the big blind with 3,800 behind.

"I'm all in no matter what," he said. "I'm not even gonna' look."

Michael Sanders was first to act and opened to 2,500 before another player made it 7,000. Walker did indeed move all in for his remaining stack and Sanders folded.

Walker was behind holding {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} of his opponent.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Walker earned the double up.

"I didn't even look," Walker said collecting the pot.

"You should just not look from now on," another player chimed in.

"That's the only thing that's worked so far," Walker replied.

Dan Martin
Dan Martin

Dan Martin got all in against Dave Moss on a king-high board. Martin had {k-}{j-} against the {a-}{k-} of Martin and couldn't catch up. Moss doubled.

On a nearby table, Keith Ferrera got all in with pocket tens against a player with a flush and straight draw. His opponent made a straight on the turn and a flush on the river when the {10-Diamonds} came, giving Ferrera a set.
