Day 1a of the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Tunica Horseshoe Main Event is over after 12 levels of play and Sim Therrell leads the 30 players heading into Day 2 on Sunday. He bagged 238,500.

Dan “Wretchy” Martin, Clint “CT” Tolbert, and Keith Fererra all played Day 1a and busted, while Kyle Cartwright surged late to come in just behind Therell with 178,000 after losing to a bad beat with pocket kings. Justin Gardenhire also bagged, ending the day with 128,000.

Some of the familiar local players bagged Day 2 as well including Joe Huey (117,000) and Connie Rice (30,000). John Walker, who won his seat from a single-table sit-and-go and was all in blind at one point in the tournament when short and in the big blind, also bagged a stack of 38,500.

The flight drew 135 entries and with satellites still going on, including one at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, the total field looks to be another big number.

There are two more flights Saturday at noon and 7 p.m. local time. Keep up with all the updates right here on PokerNews.com.

Flex Drag

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kyle Cartwright
Kyle Cartwright

Kyle Cartwright moved all in from early position. Joe Huey asked for a count and while the dealer was counting out the chips, Cartwright stood up.

He said he should be the chip leader of the whole tournament, speaking of a previous hand where he lost with pocket kings to a player who made trip jacks.

Cartwright tossed $5 in the pot and told Huey it was for him and to add it to the pot.

Huey called and Cartwright quickly took the $5 back. The table let out a sigh of disapproval as Cartwright took the money back.

A third player joined the pot calling off for less.

Cartwright: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Huey: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Short Stack: {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

As the dealer started running the board, Cartwright got up. He leaned down next to her and started calling for a nine or a heart.

The flop was {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

"Nine or a heart," he said.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}.

"Heart," he said with his face almost level with the dealer.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Cartwright won the pot.

He got everyone's attention and stripped off his jacket. He pulled up the sleeve of his t-shirt and flexed his right arm. Then he used his flexed arm to drag the pot toward him in several motions. A move the floor man referred to as the flex drag.

Tony Higgins Gets There

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Tony Higgins was the second player to limp in middle position and Jamie Strickland raised to 4,300. Higgins was the lone caller.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and Higgins bet 4,000. Strickland called.

The river was the {q-Spades} and Higgins bet again, this time making it 6,000. Strickland thought for a moment and then called. Higgins showed {q-}{10-} for two pair. Strickland showed {k-}{q-} before mucking.

Kyle Cartwright Sends One Home

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

A player in early position raised all in for 24,400 and Kyle Cartwright reraised all in for roughly 65,000. The player in the small blind seemed pained when the action fell to him and he looked at his cards.

He eventually folded and Cartwright showed {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} against the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} of the at-risk player.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Cartwright won the pot and sent his opponent to the rail.
