Some of the other notables to survive the day include Raymond Ezzie (213,000), Robert Noel (157,000), and Alexander Jagodik (143,000).

Among those not fortunate enough to find a bag were the winner of the RGPS Cleveland $420 Opener event, Jack Corrigan, WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp, and RunGood ambassadors Emily Snow and Mallory Klaus.

Zhu’s Wild Day and Troha’s Build Toward the Lead

Connor Zhu was the story of the day, building a massive chip lead throughout the day with ruthless aggression and incredible runouts, before finally losing his lead on the aforementioned final hand of the day to Carbone when he called off a 250,000 chip all-in with ace-queen against Carbone’s aces.

Despite the late fall, Zhu ended the day with a top ten chip count.

Troha’s ascension to his fifth place stack wasn’t as volatile but was a consistent build through skill and aggression to set himself up well for Day 2.

After steamrolling the field all day long, Connor Zhu's aggression backfired on him in a massive pot at the end of the day.

Anthony Carbone raised to 9,000 on the button and was met by a three-bet to 20,000 by Zhu in the big blind.

Carbone moved all in for 250,000 and Zhu called for a 500,000 chip pot.

Anthony Carbone: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Connor Zhu: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-}{9-}{3-}{4-}{7-}, doubling Carbone into the chip lead on the last hand of the night.

Sean Troha

After Mickey Murzi raised on the button to 7,000, George Mohan called in the small blind, and then Sean Troha three-bet to 27,000 in the big blind.

Only Mohan called and the duo saw a flop of {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Mohan checked to Troha, who continued for 21,000. Mohan thought briefly, but then folded his hand, as Troha dragged a pot which has him near the top of the leaderboard.

Zeta Slows Down Zhu

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Frankie Zeta
Frankie Zeta

After an under-the-gun raise from Ed Mogilnicki, Frankie Zeta moved all in from the small blind for 115,500. Connor Zhu re-jammed from the big blind, covering everyone in the room, and Mogilnicki folded to preserve his dwindling stack.

Frankie Zeta: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Connor Zhu: {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, and somehow, Zhu actually lost the pot, sending a large chunk to an opponent for the first time in several hours, with Zeta the rare beneficiary.

New Table, Same Story

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Connor Zhu
Connor Zhu

Connor Zhu's table was recently broken, but a quick check-in on him saw a new table of opponents shaking their heads in disbelief at the chip leader.

On a {6-Hearts}{a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop, Anthony Carbone checked in middle position to Zhu in the cutoff who bet 10,000.

Carbone called, then checked again on the {j-Hearts} turn. Zhu quickly fired out another 15,000 which Carbone again called.

On the {4-Diamonds} river, Carbone checked once more and Zhu quickly fired out 25,000 more.

Carbone thought briefly then pushed his cards to the dealer as Zhu dragged yet another pot.

Zhu Finishes Off Eidmann, Crosses 500,000

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Connor Zhu
Connor Zhu

This is getting a bit ridiculous now.

Connor Zhu's latest incredible trick as he runs away with the chip lead saw him eliminate Tom Eidmann, who eliminated Zhu on his first bullet before he went on his insane second bullet run.

The cards were on their backs and Zhu was dragging another 100,000+ chip pot as Eidmann was leaving the table.

As retold by the table, Zhu jammed from the small blind on a {j-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop and was snap-called by Eidmann in late position. Despite being in awful shape, Zhu would again find a way to scoop the pot.

Tom Eidmann: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Connor Zhu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Zhu's aggression got him caught as his ace-high was well behind Eidmann's set of threes.

That wouldn't stop the young sun-runner, as the dealer then dropped the {q-Spades} on the turn and the {10-Clubs} on the river to give Zhu a running Broadway straight to eliminate Eidmann in horrific fashion and extend his already massive chip lead.

Papa Karn raised to 7,000 in the cutoff, leaving himself under 10,000 behind. He found a customer in George Mohan who called from the small blind.

On the {7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Mohan check-called Karn's 8,600 all-in bet, but was in rough shape.

Papa Karn: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
George Mohan: {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, giving Karn the double-up to back over his starting stack.

Zhu Can't Lose

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Connor Zhu
Connor Zhu

Connor Zhu is threatening to run away with the tournament on Day 1, as he's amassed a huge chip lead already, with over double the next biggest stack in the room.

In a recent hand, he raised to 5,000 under the gun and was called by a player in the hijack.

The players checked the {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop, then on the {a-Hearts} turn, Zhu checked and his opponent fired out a pair of yellow T-1,000 chips for a bet of 2,000.

Zhu called, then checked the {6-Hearts} river. His opponent quickly checked back and Zhu showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for king-high, which was good, as his opponent flashed queen-high.

Zhu's Cruise Sends Swartz Back to the Cage

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Connor Zhu
Connor Zhu

Just as quickly as Daniel Swartz doubled up, he's been sent back to the rail by Connor Zhu, who has been on an absolute tear and now has the biggest stack in the room.

Swartz's roughly 60,000 chips were in the middle preflop from the big blind and at risk against Zhu on the button.

Daniel Swartz: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Connor Zhu: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop gave Zhu a gutshot straight draw against Swartz's overpair, and the {5-Clubs} on the turn gave him more outs with a flush draw.

Zhu's straight then came home on the river with the {3-Diamonds} to add another chunk to his growing towers of chips.

Swartz Reenters, Immediately Doubles

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Swartz
Daniel Swartz

Daniel Swartz is among those to reenter at the last break and he's immediately making the most of his new stack.

With approximately 10,000 in the middle on a {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, Swartz checked his big blind, Greg Turner bet 6,500 under the gun, Timothy Ebner called in late position and Swartz then moved all in for 26,000 in his first hand back in the tournament.

Turner folded, but Ebner called to put Swartz at risk again.

Daniel Swartz: {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Timothy Ebner: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Swartz's two pair were well ahead, and after the {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} runout, Swartz found his stack immediately doubled and then some.
