Today began the third of four starting flights of the RunGood Poker Series $600 Main Event at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After nine hours of play, the field of 172 was whittled down to just 22 survivors, all of whom will return tomorrow at noon to play for the title, and a piece of the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Leading the way is Nebraska native Kipp Smith, who bagged 877,000, many of those chips being acquired at the end of the night. Smith is a regular of most midwestern poker tournaments and boasts a lifetime hendon mob of $136,392. Despite this, a RGPS ring has eluded him and he looks to make right that wrong with the current overall tournament lead.

Yesterday’s bubble boy Josh Green (480,000) and Keith Jeffrey (365,000) also bagged healthy stacks that they grew slowly but surely throughout the course of the day. Others who found bags included Papa Karn (204,000), Deborah Phillips (151,000), Mark Van Keirsbilck (135,000), and former champion Nathan Steuer (145,000).

Terakun "Papa Karn" Karnchanakphan managed to find a bag, adding to the long list of RGPS cashes he has.

Those who were less fortunate this flight included Blair Hinkle, Duster Ellis, Ryan Ramsdell, and Stan Schrier. The final hand of the night saw Benjamin Stuart move all in with a set of twos, only to get called off by Kipp Smiths’ flopped flush, creating a pot of over 500,000. They will all have one final opportunity to bag in the form of tonight’s flight that began at 6 p.m.

Coverage of the event will pause until registration closes in Day 1d around 10 p.m. local time. Be sure to check in with PokerNews for all updates regarding The RunGood Poker Series.

Benjamin Stuart Is One Of Two Out on The Bubble

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Action was picked up in a hand between Benjamin Stuart in middle position and Kipp Smith in the big blind.

The board read {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Smith checked to Stuart who bet 80,000 which Smith called.

The river {8-Diamonds} saw Smith check to Stuart who moved all in for 250,000 and Smith snap-called.

Benjamin Stuart: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Kipp Smith: {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Smith's flush beat Stuart's set and he saw his stack go over to Smith.

At another table, Josh Green raised to 45,000 from early position and a player in late position moved all in for 145,000 which saw action fold back to Green who called.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Josh Green: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Spades} and the pocket eights held up to send a second player home on the money bubble. The remaining 21 players have bagged up for the night and will return tomorrow at noon.

A full recap of the flight is soon to follow.

Papa Karn

Papa Karn moved all in for 98,000 from early position and Nathan Steuer moved all in for 243,000 from the button and all other action folded.

Papa Karn: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Nathan Steuer: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The flop of {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was safe enough for the kings, but the turn {q-Hearts} gave Karn a set of queens and Steuer slammed the table in frustration and walked out of the tournament area before the river {7-Diamonds} hit and he stood away from the table for about a minute while Karn raked in the pot.

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Joseph Gatlin moved all in from first position for 125,000 and action folded around to Josh Green on the button who called after deliberating for some time. In the big blind another player moved all in for 170,000 and Green called having all of them covered.

Joseph Gatlin: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Big blind: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Josh Green: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Green jumped up and down as he moved his stack to over 500,000. Last night's bubble boy is hoping to not leave without a bag again.
