Moreno Fires Twice

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Johnnie Moreno
Johnnie Moreno

Preflop action saw 2,700 go into the middle with four players holding cards in front of them. The flop came {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs} and action checked to Johnnie Moreno in middle position, who bet 1,000. The hijack called one seat over, and the two remaining players in the hand quickly folded.

The turn came {3-Diamonds} and Moreno reached for chips once more, grabbing 3,200 and firing it forward onto the felt. The hijack thought for about 15 seconds and then folded, earning Moreno the pot with his turn bet.

Nuwwarah In and Chipping Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Mo Nuwwarah
Mo Nuwwarah

Mo Nuwwarah was recently seated after being one of the first few alternates to get their crack at the action. raised in middle position and received two calls in position before both players in the blinds came along as well.

All five players checked {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and the turn came {k-Hearts}. The small blind bet 800, the big blind folded, and Nuwwarah called. The two players behind then folded.

Action went heads up to the river {j-Spades} and the small blind checked. Nuwwarah bet 1,400 and his opponent found a call.

Nuwwarah tabled {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for top pair, and it proved to be good as his opponent sent his cards to the muck.

Kerry Hildebrand Back In Action After RGPS All Stars Pro-Am Showing

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Kerry Hildebrand at a previous RGPS Event
Kerry Hildebrand at a previous RGPS Event

Back in July 2020, Kerry Hildebrand won the RGPS All Stars Online Freeroll on Faded Spade Poker Club, where the top prize was a seat into the RGPS All Stars Pro-Am Event, which would ultimately not be held until December 2021.

At that tournament Hildebrand was ultimately eliminated in a three-way all in against RunGood Ambassador "Boston" Rob Mariano and eventual runner up Danielle Andersen. However, she is now back in action here at RGPS Contenders Council Bluffs, where she finished in eighth place during last fall's $420 Main Event at this very same venue.

We'll be sure to keep an eye on Hildebrand as she makes her way through evening. The tournament clock still displays 150 entries, though more have been recorded due to the alternate list of players still waiting to take their seats.

Big Blind Special for Thomas

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Ron Thomas
Ron Thomas

Three players went to a flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} with 3,800 in the middle from preflop action. Ron Thomas checked in the big blind, as did a player in early position, and the cutoff bet 3,000. Thomas called the early-positon player folded.

Heads-up action checked through {q-Clubs} and the board completed {3-Spades}. Thomas checked once more and his opponent bet 3,000, leaving 5,100 behind. Thomas tossed in two 5K-chips for a check-raise to put his opponent all in, and the player begrudgingly folded.

Thomas showed {8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the flopped full house, sixes full of eights.

"That's all you got?!" joked the cutoff as the pot was shipped to Thomas.

Robinson Doubles With a Full House

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

A total of 1,200 was in the process of being scooped up by the dealer from three players before bringing a flop of {j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The small blind, hijack, and Brandon Robinson on the button all checked.

The turn was the {k-Hearts} and the small blind bet 1,200. The hijack and Robinson both called, and the river came {q-Diamonds}. Two checks sent action onto Robinson, who bet 3,100.

"Is that all in?" asked the dealer, and Robinson separated his arms to show that he had no remaining chips in his stack. The dealer tossed the all-in button out onto the felt beside Robinson's chips, and the small blind folded. The hijack debated his options and found a call after around 30 seconds in the tank.

Robinson showed {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a full house, kings full of jacks, and his opponent tossed {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} onto the table face up to confirm Robinson's double.

Cohen Doubles With Quads; Gets a Bit More

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Hand #1: Brad Cohen raised to 800 under the gun and was called by Alex Hill one seat over. Action folded around to the big blind, who also called.

All three players checked {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades} and the turn {j-Spades} was brought on board. The big blind and Cohen both checked again, and Hill bet 2,400. The big blind folded and Cohen called.

Action went heads up to the river {4-Hearts} and Cohen went all in for his remaining 4,100. Hill called.

Cohen: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Hill: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Hill jokingly grabbed Cohen's two queens and turned them over, exclaiming, "Jack is good!" with a laugh before re-displaying Cohen's four of a kind.

Hand #2: On the very next hand, Hill opened to 800 under the gun. The hijack called and the player on the button three-bet to 3,500. Cohen looked down at his holdings, and slid his newly-doubled stack into the middle once more. Everybody folded.

Cohen tabled {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and added to his stack once more, bringing him above the 20K starting stack just before the first break of the evening.
