Smith Takes from Cooney

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Hand #1: There was around 5,000 in the middle on a flop reading {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Keith Smith checked in early position, first to act. The player on his left bet 2,200 and Rose Cooney called on the button before Smith check-raised to 5,000. The player on his left folded and Cooney called.

Action went heads up to the turn {q-Hearts} and Smith fired out another 5,000. Cooney folded and Smith showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a flopped wheel.

Hand #2: On the next hand, Smith limped under the gun and Cooney limped behind in the cutoff. The big blind checked and the flop came {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the big blind checked once more. Smith bet 1,200, Cooney called, and the big blind folded.

Action again went heads up to the turn {k-Diamonds} and Smith bet 3,000. Cooney called again, and both players checked the river {10-Diamonds} to take the hand to showdown.

Smith showed {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, pairing his king on the turn to improve from his flopped flush draw and overcard, and Cooney sent her cards to the muck.

We will keep an eye on Stetler and other ClubGG qualifiers as the weekend unfolds, so be sure to stick around.

Hand #1: Josh Claus raised to 1,200 from the small blind over a middle-position limper and saw Kaleb Dunn three-bet to 4,300 in the big blind. Claus called to take action heads up to a flop of {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, where both players checked.

The turn was {4-Clubs} and Claus bet 6,000. Dunn made the call, and action checked through the river {2-Hearts} to take the hand to showdown.

Claus tabled {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a flopped top pair, top kicker that became nines up on the board-pairing river. Dunn shook his head and sent his cards to the muck, finding himself below 10,000 after losing the hand.

"I call," announced Claus. "I have a gutshot," he added, tabling {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Mofield showed {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for bottom pair with the same gutter, and the turn {4-Spades} improved him to two pair. He was able to fade disaster on the river {8-Spades} and scooped the double at Claus's expense.
