Xingyao Wang and Corey Paggeot were the other two players who were able to bag up over 400,000. Both players won several hands in the final few levels of the night to move up the counts and finish on the top shelf. Carlos Resendiz would round out the top five stacks with 341,000 at night’s end.

A couple of other notable players to advance on to Day 2 among the surviving fourteen included; Jessica Plusko (255,000) and Loren Klein (81,000) who was able to survive on the stone bubble at the end of the night when he came from behind to out-flop a pocket pair.

Several players such as Jamie Kerstetter, Conrad Simpson and Ian Steinman took their shot at advancing to Day 2 but will have to try again tomorrow as they found their stacks exhausted during the day.

Jeff Platt will have to give it another shot tomorrow as well, as he tempted fate with a slow roll holding pocket aces against Paggeot but saw them go up in flames against ace-king with runner-runner broadway.

The fourteen players will now advance to Day 2, which is at 12 noon on Sunday. They will be joined by the survivors of Day 1b and Day 1c, played tomorrow.

End of Day 1a

Level 14 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The day has just come to and end as the short stack who had previously survived through the chop was felled to burst the bubble and bring a conclusion to the night.

Chip counts and recap to follow momentarily.

Bubble Fails To Burst

Level 14 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

There were two simultaneous all ins and both ended up in near identical unlikely situations.

The shortest stack player was at risk for just 30,000 against Carlos Resendiz.

Short Stack: A8
Carlos Resendiz: 88

The board ran out JJ10Q9 to give both players the straight and keep the short stack alive with the chop.

The next all in was run at the next table and it was an eerily similar spot as Loren Klein had and was at risk against Jessica Plusko.

Loren Klein: A9
Jessica Plusko: 99

The board ran out 10A6QA and Klein survived as both short stacks remained alive after low percentage spots.

Vinluan Hits River to Increase Chip Lead

Level 14 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The flop read 2x2x9x. [Removed:420] used his massive stack to call the all in of his short-stacked opponent.

At Risk Player: 6x6x
[Removed:420]: AxKx

The turn was the 4x and the river was unkind for the at risk player as the A bounced down as he got up in anger and Vinluan added more chips to his late-night chip lead as the field was cut one closer to the bubble.

Wang Rising Up

Level 13 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action was joined on the river with the board completed to read 7610A3. The pot had about 55,000 in it and Xingyao Wang bet 40,000 from the cutoff to make Taylor Howard stew over a big decision.

Howard was in the big blind and considered it thoroughly for about a minute before he called.

Wang tabled the 33 for the set and Howard flung his cards into the muck in frustration as a large portion of his stack was taken away.
