Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
PokerNews Podcast
PokerNews Podcast

On the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen discuss a controversy from the WSOP Circuit King’s Resort that was a chopped pot but accidentally resulted in the elimination of one player at the final table.

They then turn their attention to the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) down in The Bahamas. It was there that Isaac Haxton continued his heater, and he spoke with PokerNews after winning the $100K Super High Roller. Plus, Connor Richards caught up with guest Vanessa Kade, who discussed what it was like to be awarded a coveted Platinum Pass.

Other stories discussed include Jackie Glazier being back on Australian Survivor, High Stakes Poker Season 10 premiering on PokerGO, Gabe Kaplan’s unexpected retirement from poker commentary, and the recent PokerNews article on the Top 5 Poker Movies You Must Watch.

Terakun "Papa" Karn
Terakun "Papa" Karn

Blinds: 1,500/3,000, 3,000 Ante

A player raised to 6,000 from middle position, and action folded around to the button who moved all in for 15,000. In the small blind, Terakun "Papa" Karn called with the initial raiser calling as well.

The flop came out {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Karn checked to his opponent who moved all in for 12,000 effective and Karn snap-called.

Button: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Papa Karn: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Middle Position: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Karn found some much needed chips as the clock ticked down in the final flight.

At another table, Mallory Johnson was eliminated.

Byrne Hero Calls River

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Torey Byrne
Torey Byrne

Blinds: 1,000/2,000, 2,000 Ante

Edward Welch called in the hijack, with another player calling in the cutoff, and Torey Byrne checking her option in the big blind.

The flop of {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} checked through to the {q-Clubs} turn that saw action check around to the cutoff who bet 5,000, getting a call from both players.

The river {j-Hearts} saw action check around to the cutoff once more and the cutoff bet 10,000, sending Byrne into the tank. After some thought she called and Welch folded behind her. The cutoff turned over {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a missed straight draw and Byrne turned over {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for bottom pair which was good for the pot.

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Blinds: 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action was picked up with "The Prince of Poker," Scotty Nguyen all in and at risk for his remaining 13,000 having been called by Skyler Roberts.

Scotty Nguyen: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Skyler Roberts: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The flop gave Roberts a flush draw and the turn {q-} left Nguyen drawing dead to win and the 1998 WSOP Main Event Champion exited the tournament area.

Dennis Runs Out A Flush

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jennifer Dennis
Jennifer Dennis

Jennifer Dennis raised to 3,500 from early position and the middle position player moved all in for 40,000 effective. Action folded back around to Dennis who called for less to put herself at risk.

Jennifer Dennis: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The flop of {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} did not change anything, while the turn {a-Spades} gave Dennis a myriad of outs in the form of a flush draw and gutshot straight draw. The river {10-Spades} completed both of them and she survived to stay alive in the tournament.
