PN Podcast: Postle Back in Poker & Guest Mori Eskandani Shares Mirage Stories

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
PN Pod Mori Eskandani
PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.

A player raised to 16,000 from the hijack, and on the button, Derek Gomez moved all in for 85,000. In the small blind, Michael Long called, leaving the original raiser to fold and the hands were turned on their backs.

Derek Gomez: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Michael Long: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts} leaving the jacks to hold up for Long, while Gomez, who last night also finished just short of the money, ended his run in this flight as the unfortunate bubble boy.

Once the chip counts from this flight are posted, PokerNews will take an extended break before covering the following flight. Updates expected to resume around 10:00 local time.

Martin Eliminates O'Dell To Become Chip Leader

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Mark Martin
Mark Martin

A player in early position raised to 15,000 which saw Mark Martin called in the cutoff, and Dakotah O'Dell call in the big blind.

The flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} saw action check to the preflop raiser who continued for 20,000, which both players called.

O'Dell moved all in on the {4-Hearts} for 130,000, and both players called.

On the {q-Clubs}, the early position player moved all in for 25,000 and Martin snap-called.

Dakotah O'Dell: {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Early Position: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Mark Martin: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

O'Dell had turned two pair, the early position player rivered three queens, but both were dwarfed by Martin's rivered flush. Both players exited the tournament and the RGPS 2014 Joplin Main Event Champion, took down the biggest pot of the tournament.

Long Folds Out Better

Level 13 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Long raised to 15,000 from the hijack and was called by Corey Smith on the button, and Jacob Lewis in the small blind.

On a {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop, action checked to Long who continued for 30,000 which got a call from Smith and a fold from Lewis after much deliberation.

The turn {4-Spades} and river {2-Spades} checked through and Long turned over {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a pair of queens and Smith mucked. Lewis shook his head and lamented "I folded ace-queen," as Long took in the pot.

Moore Swings Upward

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Jeremy Moore raised to 8,000 from the cutoff and the button called. Another player in the big blind three-bet to 35,000 and Moore responded by moving all in for 84,000, only getting called by the big blind.

Jeremy Moore: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Big blind: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Moore connected with the ace on the flop to double up at the expense of his opponent.

The very next hand, a player from under the gun moved all in for 65,000, which saw only Moore isolate and all other players folded.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Jeremy Moore: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the king-kicker played for Moore, who spun up his stack even further.
