Two full starting flights played to their conclusion Saturday inside the Horseshoe Casino Tunica for the 2023 RunGood Poker Series Tunica $600 Main Event. Day 1b started at 11 a.m. and drew 251 entries and Day 1c’s 6 p.m. start added another 233 to that tally, bringing the grand total to 661 entries for the tournament.

Coming into the day, Truman Weatherly was the one to catch with 723,000, and only one person, Devin Wells, was able to top that number by bagging a whopping 848,000 in Day 1c. In total, 31 players advanced from the first flight, and another 29 made it through later in the evening, meaning 82 players from the 661 total entries will return for Sunday’s Day 2 at high noon local time to play down to a winner.

Other notables on that list from today include RunGood Ambassadors Preston McEwen (202,000), Cody Stanford(124,000), and Bart Bogard (165,000) who all managed to find bags in the final flight of this event. A few other big stacks from today included Shannon Hamblen (554,000), Brian Winter (538,000), and Thomas SInes (493,000).

Angotti Bursts Bubble, Players Bag

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Down to his last chips, Jimmy Angotti moved all in for 17,000 and then Robert Logan gave him protection by shoving over the top for around 180,000. The rest of the table quickly got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Jimmy Angotti: AQ
Robert Logan: KK

Angotti would need some help to stay alive, but the runout of 54974 did not do it for him and he was sent to the exit on the stone bubble.

With his elimination, play has stopped as the remaining 29 players have begun the bagging process to return tomorrow at noon for Day 2.

Stay tuned as a recap of the day's events as well as the seat draw and chip counts will be released shortly.

McEwen Saved with Ace from Space

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Preston McEwen
Preston McEwen

Michael Zuro opened to 30,000 from the cutoff but then Preston McEwen moved all in for 151,000 to his left. Action folded back around to ZUro who quickly made the call to put McEwen at risk and the cards were tabled.

Preston McEwen: A9
Michael Zuro: 99

McEwen would need some help to stay alive, and it wasn't looking good on the turn 5537, but the river was his saving grace as the A peeled on the river to award him the big double-up.

Sines Sends out Sanders

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Michael Sanders moved all in preflop and was called by Luke Sines to put him at risk, but then Sanders accidentally tabled his hand of K9 without knowing there was still action behind. After the matter was settled, the player who still had action decided to fold and the hands were tabled.

Michael Sanders: K9
Luke Sines: 88

The runout of 36JQ4 failed to help Sanders and he was sent to the rail while Sines was awarded the pot.
