RGPS Tunica

Today begins the second day of starting flights of the RunGood Poker Series Contenders Tunica $600 Main Event at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino. A total of 150 entrants fired in yesterday’s flight, seeing 19 players make it to Day 2, which will resume tomorrow. Players unhappy with their ending total of the day, can choose to play another flight and have it be the best bag forward, meaning a double bag will result in the bigger of the two stacks playing on Day 2, and the smaller one accepting a minimum cash.

Jon Swift leads the tournament at the moment after bagging 389,000 in yesterday’s flight. Others that were able to bag stacks included James Hart (383,000), David Frazier (374,000), RGPS ring-winner Katerina Lukina (334,000), and Saeed Nid (284,000).

A total of two former RGPS Tunica champions made it through to Day 2 as well; Denise Pratt (240,000) and Max Le (92,000), with both looking to get their hands on another main event title, as well as a piece of the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Players expected to fire today include Christopher Conrad, WSOP bracelet winner Kyle Cartwright, and 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker, each of whom looking for greater success in this second flight. Those who do not bag will have one more chance to bag, in the form of the third flight, beginning at 6 p.m. today.

Players will begin the tournament with 30,000 chips with levels starting at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. Levels will escalate once every 30 minutes, with a 15-minute break occurring every four levels, then every three levels after level 8. Players can enter as many times as they wish in the first eight levels of the tournament, with registration closing once players return from break. Play will continue until the field plays down to 12.5%, then the remaining players will bag up for Sunday, March 5th, where they will all be in the money.

Roy Gets Value on River

Level 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a three-way turn board of {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Ronnie Sharp was first to act from the big blind and he bet 2,500. This was called by Francis Roy under-the-gun while the other player got out of the way.

The river fell the {5-Clubs} and Sharp fired again for 2,500 but then was quickly raised to 6,000 by Roy.

Sharp didn't hesitate to make the call and flipped over {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for trip kings but was then shown {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} from Roy for a rivered flush.

Sharp's cards were mucked by the dealer and the pot was pushed to Roy to put his stack to around 40,000.

Carper Applies Pressure

Level 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Brad Carper opened to 1,200 preflop and was called by Marcus Lambert and one other player.

The flop came out {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs} and when action was checked to him, Carper continued for 2,000. This was called only by Lambert and the two went heads-up to the turn {2-Clubs}.

Lambert checked once more and Carper fired again, this time for 5,000 and Lambert promptly folded to award him the pot.

Boat over Boat for RInehart

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Action was picked up on a four-way pot with a board of {7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} with around 20,000 already in the middle.

After action was checked to him, Demond Adams made it 3,000 to go and was called by Sam Rinehart and two others.

But on the river, Adams decided to check and this time Rinehart bet 6,200, which produced folds from the other two players.

The action was back on Adams, who made the call, but was then shown {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} from Rinehart for a rivered full house, sevens full of fours. Adams shook his head and flipped over {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for an inferior full house, fives full of fours, and the pot was pushed to Rinehart.

Lloyd Scoops Massive Pot and Secures Chip Lead

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

PokerNews was waved over as a massive hand unfolded as three players were all in looking at a flop of {9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Spades}.

Player 1: {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Player 2: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Player 3: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

While player 1 was currently in the lead with the nut straight, he still had a lot to dodge as any king, jack, or spade would cause him to lose.

"I'll take his hand for $100," someone at the table said, gesturing toward the player with the straight, but he would have quickly lost that bet because the turn came the {9-Spades} to give Player 3 the flush. But the hand wasn't over yet as that card also gave Player 1 a straight flush draw and Player 2 (who identified as Matt Doyle) more boat outs.

None of that mattered, however, as the river came the blank {6-Clubs} and Player 3 (who identified as Ricky Lloyd) scooped the massive pot of 100,000 to rocket him into the chip lead. Meanwhile, the other player quickly exited the tournament area before his name could be recorded.
