"I Guess I'm a Hero!": Fisher Calls With Ace-High
William Fisher and Andre Allen have gone to war this level, and there's no question who has been the victor.
The two played three consecutive hands, starting with Allen opening on the button and Fisher three-bet jamming in the small blind to take it down.
The next hand, Allen limped in the cutoff and Fisher raised to 500,000 on the button. Allen called. Allen checked on the flop of 2♠10♥A♠ and folded as Fisher continued for 500,000. Fisher was kind enough to show the A♦.
Next, Fisher opened to 450,000 in the cutoff and Allen defended his big blind. Both players checked on the 4♣10♠9♣ flop and Allen tried for 450,000 on the 4♥ turn. Fisher called. Allen fired a second time for 700,000 on the 2♠ river and Fisher waved to his friend who had entered the tournament area before calling.
"Good call, Will," Allen said before gasping as Fisher turned over A♠7♦ for just ace high. "You got lessons on break."
"I guess I'm a hero!" Fisher cheered after making the play that brought praise from those on the rail.
"Nice call, sir!" someone shouted. "Put that one in the memory bank!"
