PokerNews caught up with Jon Lawson on break to briefly chat about the early days of the RunGood Poker Series.
"Yeah, I've been playing since, probably about 10 years ago whenever it started back here, but yeah, ever since Tana [Karn] was coming to town, he was traveling a lot with starting it up and everything. We used to go have some good dinners with all the people from Kansas City that would come in town like the Hinkles. But, it's still fun and it's good to have RunGood keep coming here."
Lawson went on to give a shout-out to a late friend and noted that many of the players who regularly travel on the tour have become close.
"We have a lot of good players that have done pretty well in poker that some of them moved to Vegas. And yeah, we just had a good pro pass away, Jeff Banghart. He was one of the best around. But yeah, we have a real tight community, everybody's kind of close."
