Pettit Surges in Back-to-Back Hands

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Alhmad Pettit has chipped up in two consecutive hands to build a healthy stack thus far in the main event.

The first hand took place when Isaac Cramer opened the action with a raise to 1,600 from under the gun. Pettit called from middle position.

Cramer slowed down with a check on the 3JK flop. Pettit fired 2,000 and was called by Cramer.

The A turn led to a check from Cramer and a bet of 6,000 from Pettit. Cramer stuck around once again with a call.

The action would check to Pettit on the 2 river before Pettit moved 10,000 toward the middle. Cramer put in the call, and Pettit showed KJ for a flopped two pair. Cramer did not show as he yielded the pot to Pettit. Cramer was seen leaving the tournament area shortly after, as he busted.

Pettit was not done, as the next hand he found himself involved in yet another consequential pot.

The hand began with a raise by Stephen Seffense to 1,500 from early position. Pettit chose to re-raise to 4,500. This led to a jam by Burl Berry for 8,600. Seffense called the all-in, but Pettit wanted more as he jammed himself to put Seffense to a decision for his tournament. Seffense folded and sent Berry and Pettit heads up.

Burl Berry: AQAll in
Alhmad Pettit: QQ

Pettit had Berry in trouble, and the board did not alter that as it spread 39J67 to award Pettit the pot and eliminate Berry.
