RGPS $800 Main Event Kicks Off in Joplin

The RunGood Poker Series has returned to Downstream Casino in Joplin, Missouri, where eight RGPS rings will be awarded over six days of tournament action. The highlight of the series is the $800 Main Event, which features a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool and includes four starting flights spread across three days. The first flight kicks off on Thursday, April 10, at 6:00 p.m. local time, followed by another on Friday, April 11. Two additional flights will take place on Saturday, April 12, leading into the final day of action on Sunday, April 13.

The last time the RGPS stopped in Joplin, in April 2024, Andre Allen pulled off an incredible comeback—climbing from just one big blind with three tables remaining to outlast a field of 620 entrants and take home the top prize of $60,972.

Players will start the event with 30,000 chips, playing 30-minute levels during Day 1 flights before levels increase to 40 minutes on Day 2. Blinds will begin at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. There will be a 15-minute break after every two hours of play.

The Main Event features unlimited reentries, with late registration open until the start of Level 9. Play will continue until only 12.5% of the field remains, at which point players will reach the money, bag their chips, and return for Day 2.

Participants may enter multiple Day 1 flights, but if a player qualifies for Day 2 more than once, only their largest stack will carry forward. Any lower chip stacks will be removed at the start of Day 2 and receive the minimum Day 2 payout. Blinds on Day 2 will begin at the lowest level reached during the Day 1 flights.

May Chips Up Early

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Jarryd Hawkins was first to act in the hijack and raised to 500, which was called by the player in the cutoff and small blind. Then Dorianne May in the big blind put in a three-bet to 2,500, which Hawkins called, the cutoff folded, and the small blind called as well.

After the flop came 362 the small blind checked to May who bet out 3,000, which Hawkins called and the small blind folded.

The turn brought the K and Hawkins called a bet of 5,000 from May.

Both players checked after the 6 on the river, and May tabled AK to take the pot with her two pair, kings and sixes, as Hawkins tossed his cards in the muck.

Coyle Gets the Fold

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Alex Phahurat opened the action with a raise to 500 from the button, which was called by James Coyle in the small blind and the big blind Daniel Lowery.

The flop came 479 and Coyle decided to lead out for a bet of 1,000. He was called by Lowrey and Phahurat elected to fold.

After the 3 on the turn, Lowery called a bet of 2,000 from Coyle.

The river brought the 8 and after Coyle again bet, this time for 3,000, Lowery quickly mucked to give the pot to Coyle.

May Gets Her Jam Through

Action folded to the player in the hijack and he raised to 600, which was called by Dorianne May in the cutoff,

After the flop came 854 the hijack checked to May who bet out 2,000, before he raised to 6,000. May quickly made the call.

The turn brought the 10 and the hijack bet out 6,000, and May raised all in for his stack of 16,500. After debating his decision for nearly a minute, the hijack mucked his hand to give the pot to May.

Langley Sends a Player Out with Queens

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

A player in the hijack opened the action with a raise to 600, which was called by the player in the cutoff, and once it folded to Logan Langley in the small blind, he three-bet to 1,300. The big blind Timothy Black made the call, as did the hijack and cutoff.

After the flop came J33 Langley bet out 4,000, which was only called by the player in the hijack.

The turn brought the 4 and the hijack called a bet of 7,300 from Langley.

After the 10 on the river, Langley moved all in for the hijack's stack of 13,800, which he quickly called. Langley tabled the winner with QQ to take the pot with his two pair queens and threes, as his opponent tossed QJ in the muck as he left the tournament area.
