Happy Ending for Hatchel

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Tyler Hatchel
Tyler Hatchel

Tyler Hatchel and Happy Spaulding were heads-up on a flop of 1062 and Hatchel check-called a bet of 7,000 from Spaulding. The same could be said for the 2 turn where the bet was 12,000.

The 7 hit the river and Hatchel led out with a bet of 15,000 this time. Spaulding snapped him off and Hatchel turned over 66 for a full house, leaving Spaulding on the short stack again.

A huge turnout of nearly 100 entries has been recorded in the opening levels of Day 1c. The players are heading on their first 15-minute break of the day with late registration still open until approximately 3:30 p.m.

Larkin Gives Up on the River

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Jonathan Larkin
Jonathan Larkin

Jonathan Larkin raised to 1,200 in middle position and William Cary reraised to 2,400 a couple of seats over. The action folded back to Larkin who flicked in a call. The flop came AQ10 and both players checked to the 9 on the turn.

Larkin led out with a bet of 2,500 and Cary stuck around for the 8 on the river. Larkin checked this time and Cary quickly checked back by turning over his 55. Larkin chuckled to himself as he was unable to beat the measly pair of fives.

Happy Spaulding
Happy Spaulding

Happy Spaulding raised to 1,000 in early position and picked up two callers. The flop came K75 and Spaulding just splashed in his remaining 11,000 chips. Scott Storrs mulled it over for a minute before making the call.

Scott Storrs: KJ

Spaulding was in rough shape with just ace-high but the 8 on the turn improved his chances with a straight draw. The river was the 9 and Spaulding made his straight, saving him a reentry for now.

$100,000 Guarantee is Smashed!

After a slower start to the week, it was unsure of how big of a turnout the $600 Main Event would get at the 2026 Jamul Poker Open. However, partway into the third of four starting flights, the $100,000 guarantee set out by tournament organizers has been easily reached as now the sights are set on potentially doubling that number!

After a recent influx of players from an earlier satellite, Day 1c has already reached 90 entries, bringing the total to 246 thus far. There are still another four levels of late registration in this flight and Day 1d will kick off at 6 p.m. this evening. There is no doubt that this field will top the 286 entries from the previous year, the question is...just how big will it get?!
