Savage Enjoying his Time at RunGood Dallas
As the RGPS Golden Expedition Dallas series moves along here at Palace Poker, lots of the talk has been focused on the $300 Tag Team Ring Event that concluded earlier in the week. Among the participants was Craig Savage, who keeps busy outside of poker but was happy to spend some time at another RunGood stop.
"I teach school, and then we started back up, so I've been getting reports and being envious of people over here playing, but I got to get out last weekend and then Monday night and Tuesday night. The tag team was a blast, and I busted right on the money, but the RunGood events are just so much more fun than everything else."
Savage is part of a close-knit group of poker players in the Dallas area, always cheering each other and helping their friends achieve success on the felt.
"We did a docuseries called Chase the Dream, where there are seven of us who come from different walks of life, who have different poker backgrounds and are kind of chasing our passion, our hobby. Some of us have at times played for a living, some of us have jobs, but we take the game very seriously and we captured a lot of that.”
"I was fortunate enough in 2025 to win a bracelet. So I got to capture that and so it's like a little time capsule for me."
That win came at the 2025 World Series of Poker in Event #61: $500 No-Limit Holdem Freezeout, where Savage took home $229,628. The growth of poker in Texas has made playing at home more accessible, but Savage likes to get out on the road when possible.
"Right now there's so much poker in Dallas that we don't need to travel too much, but I enjoy traveling. I've been to the RunGood in Tulsa and New Orleans, and I go out to Vegas in the summer."
