Branding

Lucas Drummonds set a benchmark for everyone to chase today on Day 1b of the $800 RunGood Passport Season Council Bluffs Main Event.

Drummonds ended yesterday’s opening flight with a massive stack of 673,000, putting him nearly 300,000 ahead of the rest of the 16 survivors. Now another crop of hopefuls will gather inside the Horseshoe Council Bluffs poker room at noon local time and try to replicate that performance and secure their spot on Day 2 and a piece of the $111,000 guaranteed prize pool.

This is the second of three starting flights. Players begin with a starting stack of 30,000, with opening blinds of 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels will be 30 minutes until the end of Level 8, then extended to 40 minutes for the remainder of the day. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 9.

The RunGood team should be out in full force today. Delilah Lerner, Grant Hinkle, Taylor Howard, and Jeff Copeland all played yesterday but were unable to find a bag and will have to try again today. Blair Hinkle, meanwhile, was busy chasing his second ring of the week at the final table of the Black Chip Bounty event and should take his shot at the championship ring today.

A total of 130 players joined yesterday’s flight, with 16 advancing to Day 2. Joining Drummonds were Kevin Berthelsen (381,000), Ryan Remmes (312,000), Jacob Long (307,000), Nate Steuer (292,000), and PokerNews PowerStack fourth-place finisher Kevin Watson (277,000).

There is also a Day 1c flight that begins later tonight at 6 p.m. All surviving players then combine for Day 2 at noon tomorrow to play down to a champion. The action on Day 2 picks up on the earliest finishing time from one of the starting flights. Day 1a ended with 23 minutes remaining in Level 14.

Stay tuned as PokerNews follows all the action and provides live updates from another action-packed day here in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
