Poker Runs in the Family for Father-Son Duo Jacob and Roger Foley
PokerNews caught up with Jacob Foley, a local player from Missouri who frequents the RunGood stops along with his father, Roger Foley. He was asked about how he got into poker and whether or not his dad had a hand in it.
"Yes, at a young age, just home games at my house. I got into it and started playing with him and his friends. Went from there and then when I went to college in Oklahoma, just kept going and now I'm a full time player."
As for his dad, "He tries to go to most of the ones around here when he can."
Foley explained that he has learned a lot from his father over the years, especially when he was younger, just starting out. "Oh yeah, he's definitely taught me what I know about the game, at least."
As Foley has improved over the years, he mentioned that he has been able to teach his dad some things as well as the game continues to evolve. However, pops is ruthless at the table and nobody, not even his son is safe.
"The last two tournaments we've been in together at the same table, he's actually knocked me out. So he's got the the upper hand," joked Foley.
As for whether or not we'll see Roger this weekend, Jacob noted, "Yeah, I think he's coming tomorrow to play the Main (Event)."
